And people say motorcycling is dangerous

El Caminito del Rey (The King's pathway) is a walkway, now fallen into disrepair, pinned along the steep walls of a narrow gorge in El Chorro, near Álora in Málaga,Spain. The walkway has gone many years without maintenance, and is in a highly deteriorated and dangerous state. It is only one meter in width, and over a 700-meter fall, and over time it has also lost its handrail. Some parts of the walkway have completely collapsed and have been replaced by a beam and a metallic wire on the wall. Many people have lost their lives on the walkway in recent years. After four people died in two accidents in 1999 and 2000, the local government closed the entrances. However, adventurous tourists still find their way into the walkway.

The view and the music are almost like being in a video game...very cool!

Well, I can officially take that off my "top five things to do before I die" list!

I almost fell out of my chair leaning away from the fall. It must have been a head camera right? I would need both hands and I can guarantee that I would run out of film and batteries before I got very far.

Ride 'em if you got 'em.

Or is it the top one thing to do AS you die?

I cannot even imagine walking those pipes, or the thin old concrete around those holes! Holding a camera at the same time?

I don't want to achieve immortality through my work...I want to achieve it through not dying.

Looks like an interesting trip. I would definitely give it a go if I was in the area. A few of the spots would be pretty dicey without another climber and some extra safety precautions. The only thing that bothers me are the rusted pipes.

This is the Painted Wall of the Black Canyon. The Gunnison River is 2300 below the rim. Although that's a lot of vertical to climb it isn't especially difficult, just long.

I spent three days and nights (one in light rain) with two other climbers on the side of this in 1973. We had a great time.

...and here's a similar catwalk located just a few hours drive East of Tucson near the New Mexico border. Really cool in the spring when the water is running high. I would even take my Grandmother on this one.

It's in just a little bit better condition.

This is part of an absolutely awesome roundtrip motorsickle ride from Tucson...

I wonder how the photographer was able to carry his 1,000 pound scrotum with him. You've got to have huge ones to do what he did.
