...and wear a high quality helmet:

Trooper McIlvenna believes the protective helmet Davidson was wearing saved his life as it sustained severe gouges upon making contact with the dirt/gravel shoulder.

It's amazing that even that little "pudding bowl" probably saved his life.

Some years ago the old time Cowboy "dusters" became popular with the HD crowd,
seems like "overnight" dozens of vendors were selling them during Daytona's bike week.

I happened upon the scene of a not so pretty site,
where according to the guys riding behind him,
a rider had unbuttoned his coat while riding,

a gust of wind from a truck going the opposite direction blew his jacket open
where it caught in the rear wheel of the bike and jerked him of the bike,
he landed on his head, was "drug" along by the bike, no helmet, end of story

I do not understand why some people take off the top box from their LTs.
Here if this guy had a top box, I am sure he would have put his jacket in the top box instead of tying. I think only Electra Glide has the top box for Harley's
