Warning: Using a mobile phone while pregnant can seriously damage your baby

A giant study, which surveyed more than 13,000 children, found that using the handsets just two or three times a day was enough to raise the risk of their babies developing hyperactivity and difficulties with conduct, emotions and relationships by the time they reached school age. And it adds that the likelihood is even greater if the children themselves used the phones before the age of seven.

Mobile phones 'more dangerous than smoking'

Mobile phones could kill far more people than smoking or asbestos, a study by an award-winning cancer expert has concluded. He says people should avoid using them wherever possible and that governments and the mobile phone industry must take "immediate steps" to reduce exposure to their radiation.

What is particulary interesting is that one of the scientists in the above article was more at "the other side" before.

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-st...ng-802602.html

Here is an audio intervju from Australian ABC on how they find that cell phone use couses higher risk of brain tumors.
http://www.brain-surgery.net.au/medi..._27_3_2008.mp3
Here is the homepage of that neural surgent in the intervju http://www.brain-surgery.net.au/index.html

Question now is, Who are you going to believe? The corporations who make and sell cell phones / mobile phones or the independant research facilities?

And guys, I get severe headace around bluetooth systems so using it in or on my bike is completely out of the question.

Don't worry. The next round of babies will evolve to tolerate such technologies. Isn't that how evolution works?

Evolution does not happen that fast, it usualy take quite some time and if we dont give a s**t til then we may see no one to bring anything foreawrd becouse of all dead by brain tumor.

Just look at the evolution of man

That happened from start to now over a periode of many millions of years.

Sure does sound like you don't have much "faith" in the Evolutionary process.

My boy must have already "evolved." His head is a hard as a rock and as thick as a brick!

Re: Warning: Using a mobile phone while pregnant can seriously damage your baby

It is funny how we find that information like that is inconvinient and then just dont give a crap or start making jokes about it.

Well I am avoiding use of mobile phones as much as I can and do no talk in them for more then 3 minutes at the time.

I do however have a sencitivity for electro magnetic radiation so I feel it when there is to much of it around me.

To quote "the" surgeon general (roughly): "We're all gonna' die with somethin'!" (Speaking of joking).

As I said in the anti-smoking thread: thank you FOR using your cell phone!

Re: Warning: Using a mobile phone while pregnant can seriously damage your baby

Given the millions of independent factors that can effect the same risks in children, there is NO way anyone can attribute cell phone exclusively use to any of these risks. Hell, I would bet more than half those kids eat food that has high-fructose corn syrup as a sweetener, which has much more science behind similar risks to children than cell phone use.

You have to love articles like this -- usually written by someone who has no clue to the science behind it. They are just looking for a headline to get us to read it. We had moms that smoked and/or drank when they were pregnant, parents that smoked around us when we were little, took us place in the car without seatbelts, let us ride bicycles without helmets, let us play in the front yard without adult supervision, and we turned out okay for the most part.

But you see, thats where the problem lies.

If it takes millions of years for evolution to make changes in a species and the climate changes in 10,000 years (or less) how can that work? It is "understood" that the last ice age was at most maybe 100,000 years ago. Seems to me evolution over "millions of years" is tough to accept. If it were maybe 1000's of years I could see that.

With generations at 30-40 years, there would be 25,000 generations per million years, more for other species.

The "basic human" is relatively unchanged from the form you see today. Even the oldest forms are very closely matched (forgetting the monkeys) to us.

I understand the Galapagos islands and the changes. It would be cool to see them in humans to better support the evolutionary theory.

But hey, one thing for sure "My LT aint gonna ride itself" and I can definitely fix that!

Thank you, Jeff. Spot on! AND we didn't have every surface spayed or wiped with Lysol, either. Dad even let us sip his "adult" beverage. The horror!

What a silly statement!

In facts beeing sencitive to radiation, this is a subject I have read quite a lot about and by offering you some more scientific facts it may ring a bell. That was the purpose of it all.

"But while the results suggested an increased risk of hyperactivity, impulsivity and difficulty concentrating in children whose mothers used cell phones during pregnancy, epidemiological experts -- including one of the paper's authors -- said it would be a mistake to assume that the findings were conclusive.

In fact, Dr. Jorn Olsen, professor and chair of epidemiology at UCLA and a co-author of the paper, said media coverage of the research thus far has been off target.

Olsen specifically referred to a report in the British press with the headline "Warning: Using a Mobile Phone While Pregnant Can Seriously Damage Your Baby."

"That's clearly not what we wanted to suggest, and we think that there is no reason that pregnant women should be very alarmed at the findings we have," Olsen said."

Hnida questioned whether the cell phone use was early in the pregnancy, late in the pregnancy, 30 second calls or 3 hour calls. He said there was no real research in the study.

The whole issue is easy to solve:

Don't let your fetus use your cell phone!

Edit, second thought: Whats going on today? Full moon? Or is there a troll convention somewhere?

Yes, Paalao, your ignorance has become quite apparent. You support many of your opinions not with facts, but with websites that happen to share your point of view. Hardly fact based. Maybe if you actually had an original thought instead of something you read on the internet, then you might actually contribute something of value to the community. With your credibility even further eroded with this episode, maybe you should find a different place to troll.

This is the last time I offer this warning, and then you're done. Your welcome here is officially over. Tread lightly from this moment on.
