Whats on your playlist?

What is your favorite riding music? What artist, song, or genres makes you crack the throttle back a bit, not that I am condoning exceeding the speed limit.

Re: Whats on your playlist?

My music taste is varied-Frank Sinatra to ZZ Top. It is hard to beat Born To Be Wild or Long Lonesome Highway as you ride down the road.

Re: Whats on your playlist?

I have a rule that once the needle passes the century mark, or I'm headed into the twisties, the music gets turned OFF! Perhaps music distracts me more than the average bear because I'm a musician ... but I still don't recommend it to anyone. Music is for cruising, not spirited riding. Just my

Having said that, I love anything by Dream Theater, Steve Vai, Rush, and a plethera a 80s and 90s music that is heavily guitar-induced. Oh . . . and ENYA! (Or at least, until I start my period. Then I have to turn it off.)

I had a thread some time ago about 'Riding Songs'. My criterea was VERY strict, however. The lyrics had to talk about a bike, period. Songs like 'Born TO BE Wild' did NOT make the list. That song never mentions that he's riding a bike. In fact, rumor has it that it's about driving a Charger from LA to Las Vegas ... or something like that. Cracks me up though. So many riders seem to like that song, but their lifestyle and riding style is anything BUT "WILD". More like, "Born To BE MILD".

I've played guitar for 30+ years on and off, been in a few party bands and played for fun but I'm in the same boat. I get far too deep into what's happening within the music. It's a distraction more than anything else...

Me? I'm no musician. I'm a drummer. I mostly have Motown playing.

Re: Whats on your playlist?

Just about everything. Except Rap and country. Lots of Rush, Pink Floyd, Clapton, Lots of traditional Irish music as well as some more modern. Can't forget the JAzz. I found this Artist a few weeks ago that I feel is really cool for riding. Her name is Hiromi. Plays Piano. Jazz fusion but cool stuff. Really up beat. I set the Ipod on shuffle and just go. I tend to tune out the stereo at high speeds, so no need to shut it off, my brain shuts it off for me.

Re: Whats on your playlist?

I'm pretty old fashioned.
I don't have an ipod, although I've been thinking about getting an MP3 player since I sold the LT.

I miss the 6 disc cd changer on long trips.

Right now I have about 10K songs on my I-Pod. Hank Williams I to Hank Williams III. John Prine, ZZ Top, Bob Marley, Ziggy Marley, Steel Pulse, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Blind Boys of Alabama,Jaco Pastorious,Jamie Cullum, Jars of Clay,Jimmy Hendrix,Kevin Prosch,Matisyahu. Just to name a few and give you an idea of how wide my range goes. I usually use shuffle and just let it play, with no specific order.
