Remember when?

In my youth I rode a Sportster for a few years.

Remember when I couldn't get a dollars worth of gas in it. That is when gas was 33 cents a gallon.

Filled my LT yesterday and I got back just over a dollar in change for a twenty.

Gunny,
be happy you can still remember that far back

According to local reports today gas will increase another 50 - 75 cents by Memorial day. You won't get any change if this is true.

Making me think real hard about can I afford a vacation. If gas and diesel keep going up, so will the costs of food and lodging.

Re: Remember when?

I remember right after I started driving my own car gas in Phoenix hit 40 cents. That was big news in '72.

Re: Remember when?

I remember my little Honda 350 (4) held $1.28's worth of gas when I was on the reserve. My 69 Camaro held less than $5. I watched the news last night about a place in California that gets $5.69 a gallon. I was complaining the other day at $3.69 for prem.

Re: Remember when?

I was in Libya 2 years ago and it was 70 pence for 10 litres :-)) Petrol here is now about 1.05 GBP per litre - that is approaching 5 GBP per UK gallon - That is nearly 10 dollars =8-0

Re: Remember when?

Back in the early 70's when I worked at a gas station (never heard of a mini mart), the local cab company would come in a couple of times a day. They would put a dollars worth of gas in the cab and get 3.3 gallons of fuel. I really enjoyed it when they put three dollars in and I did not see them for a while.

Re: Remember when?

What bothers me the most now is, I'm weird so stay with me, is that the pumps take to long. They still only pump x dollars per min so it's taking longer to fill up. Around here they take all the locks that hold the pump on and if you put your key fob in it they shut down the pump on you. I hate that when you're trying to fill up a little Focus and it takes forever in the freezing rain.

Oh yea the price stinks to but I'm use to paying that when I lived in Spain.
