Look what I found today

I was out scuba diving today and found this. http://cgi.ebay.com/Penn-50-Internat...QQcmdZViewItem It had to been dropped in the water within the last day or two. I brought it up and it is a true work of art. I can not believe how smooth and well crefted this reel is. Some where somebody is really pissed. This not it for sale but its the same reel.

I was wondering how you found a reel still in the box underwater?

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

What is it?? I am not a nautical, water-loving person, so the object could be from Mars for all I know...

Re: Look what I found today

You wrap fishing line around the spool on the reel, mount the reel on a fishing pole, run the fishing line through the eyes on the fishing pole, tie a hook on the end of fishing line, put bait on the hook and catch fish with it.

Re: Look what I found today

That's a great find,
you must be a "hardcore" scuba diver considering your location and the season
or were you wearing a dry suit?

Call me a "tropical sissy" like my sister does if you want to,
but our water temperature is currently in the mid 60's
and it's going to be another month before my dive gear gets wet.

For the "early season divers" around here there is always a good selection of anchors on the artificial reefs, (mostly concrete rubble)
but since I've already got a dozen of those that's not enough incentive for me to splash, yet.

Re: Look what I found today

Hans,
I have a couple of wet suits, But they have not seen the water in quite some time. I use a DUI crushed neopreme dry suit. The water here warms up to around 48 degrees in the summer! I found the fishing reel below a pier. It is a huge reel made for big Halibut or..... sharks. Since there are no halibut in the area of the pier, I can only guess he was fishing for 6 gill sharks. Which is now illegal in the area. My dive buddy saw a 12 footer there last year. I checked out that website you linked, Pretty cool. Lots of pictures of bugs. Unfortunately we do not have any of those up here. I occasionally shoot a ling cod when my buddies have no luck catching one. I try to get one under 20 pounds. Bigger than that I get scared being on a lanyard tied to a fish with huge teeth.
