Wear your helmet

A friend sent this to me. I looked it up. It is real. Happened in april 2007 in tulsa.
A truck was traveling down the highway at around 1 o'clock in the morning near Tulsa , Oklahoma .
Motorcyclist was traveling at ~120mph and ran into the back of the moving semi-truck.
Truck driver said he felt the impact, and it took almost a 1/4 mile for him to pull over.
This is what he found...

I'm guessing the helmet didn't do that guy much good. Don't know he could have missed seeing that truck ... maybe he was going to veer around it and mis-timed?

for a while

This has been going around for a while and I'm curious as to how they know he was going ~120 MPH.

The article said truck was going "normal speed" whatever that means for the road - perhaps they just calculated what the "net" speed would have to be (bike travelling 60 mph if truck was standing still)....so 120mph bike less 60mph truck = 60 mph net bike. just guessing...

I read through the Snopes article. It really pisses me off that the reaction to these types of things is always the same, a call for more laws. The father is quoted as saying that he "can't be mad" but wants to "do something". So his bereavement means more laws targeted directly at motorcyclists.... I have a question though; If the guy was already breaking every law on the freaking books as it was, why would even MORE laws change anything?
Ugh.
