$2500 !NEW! car unveiled.

No, really this is no misprint or joke. just read the story:

http://jalopnik.com/343003/the-2500-...eiled-in-india

If they really full of the trick to bring a car for sub $5000 to market coupled with a decent warranty I believe it would sell like crazy despite the obvious and not so obvious shortcomings.

At that price and with the amount of miles I drive I would think about it for a disposable car.

years ago, we bought a chevette scooter, it was 1800 bucks...around 1975 I think...brand new.

The door panels were cardboard, nothing was automatic (cept the trans)..and other than the crappy brake/clutch designs (had another one later with more fancy stuff in it), it was a rock solid machine.

Not too bad in the comfort zone either, but comfort didn't seem to be a big issue at that age, heheh..

I like the smart car, saw them in GE a couple years back...but I think its about 20 grand for one of those.

I'd consider that for a commuter. Now way they'll be able to sell it here for 2500 bucks though...

I agree, I think it'd be at least double that cost here in the USA.

Remember the Yugo? I can't remember how much that was but it may have been around 2500 bucks. What a scary car.

There is NO WAY I would ever consider driving that on a Texas Freeway. Lest you be gobbled up by a SUV or even a R1200GS Adventure in the left lane.

Cute little car. You could carry one in the bed of a pickup truck in case the truck breaks down.

That little car was on our local new last night. It is a funny looking thing but it seats four. I am not sure I would want to take it anywhere since it was listed as top speed of 60mph but as a commuter or school car...maybe.

It will sell like crazy in developing countries, without a doubt. However, it does not pass muster with western safety or pollution standards. In fact, fail Indian pollution standards when they become more strict in a couple of years.

Look for the 2nd or 3rd generation of their product to be something that can be exported to the US and Europe.

And that is supposed to make it OK? To paint a whole country he obviously doesn't know too much about with a broad brush as 'shit'? Sorry, I can't follow that logic.

Matter of fact how do you guys feel if someone from the countries in the middle east declares the US as the 'devil' again? Just how high is your opinion of these guys? Hmm? I didn't think so.

Could it be we have a case of 'Quot licet jovi, non licet bovi' ? The question still remains just WHO is the bovi here in this context.

You assumed my answer Andy. Sorry ... but it's a bad assumption. I don't give a rip what the people in the middle east declare the US. Nor do I care if the French don't like us. Nor do I really care what Brett thinks of India, or China.

I do care, however, when someone wants to lift another country above the US whilst living in the US. That just seems wrong to me. If "the other said country" is so much better, then why not live there?

Please, let's not belittle Brett's patriotism. It's a lost art. At least, it seems to be in the US of A.

That's not patriotism, that's just ignorance. Blind allegiance to whatever they tell you doesn't make you patriotic, it just makes you a sheep.

And many of us have lived in other countries so we have direct experience of other cultures. The US is still a great country, but it is far from perfect. And the basis of freedom is questioning what goes on around you, not just following the pack and declaring everything else to be stupid or junk.

Again, it's just plain ignorant.

FWIW, In the past decade the USA has provided a lot of opportunities to people that their home countries lacked. This is probably what brought many folks from different parts of the world here, including myself. Things are improving and I know of many people who have gone back to their native land(s).

OTOH, I wasn't upset with Brett's opinion about India. Just that painting such an image about something that he might not be knowledgeable shows his ignorance. You and I have met and I am sure you know well, I couldn't be bothered with such comments

So, are you saying that everything that's been designed in the USA is 100% perfect? and that the rest is all junk? I am sure that there are many examples that we can all come up with to argue that point.
