Smile Week ONE of my new gig . . . impressions.

(messenger13 enters the room singing that familiar B.T.O. lyric, "...working for the man every night and day" )

Well, I got through my first week at Kenston Local Schools. No surprises really. I'm the first one there in the morning...7 o'clock-ish. I already have all of the keys to the place. Passwords and admin rights to everything. In fact, I have the remote software to lock the place down in the event of a "snow day". (I knew snow had to be good for SOMEthing. ) I am quickly becoming the go-to guy for all things telephone. Their new Cisco VOIP system is really cool. The more I dig into it, the more I'm finding. I've already solved several routing issues that they've been having. And as for the PC work, I've been successful thus far at completing every assignment thrown at me.

The best part of all is the flexibility. This weekend, I'm filling out my work calender for the year. Today I asked my boss if next Friday was too soon to be taking my first day OFF. He just smiled and said, "No problem. What's up?" I told him that some friends are meeting in southern Ohio and we were going to be riding for the day. He just said, "Cool!" . . . and that was that.

I really think I'm going to like this gig.

Way to go Joe. One week on the job and you are the "da man".

The first few weeks are usually the toughest. The fact you are batting a 1000 so far should really help carry you through any rough spots in the immediate future. Just don't get bored too soon.

Excellent, Soon you will be irreplaceable. To them anyway.

IT is a very interesting world, until you come across those things that just don't make sense. But you scratch your head and work the logic. Or escalate it to M/S or whomever is the source of your irritation.

Glad it's going smooth and your making the schedule work for you instead of you working for it. Have fun. See ya Friday.

Glad to hear things are going well Joe. Keep on keeping on (I don't think that phrase really means anything).

When a government takes over a peoples economic life it becomes absolute, and when it has become absolute it destroys the arts, the minds, the liberties and the meaning of the people it governs.

Glad to hear the new job is working out, and you are liking it! Since you're laying out your work calendar for the year maybe you should just go ahead and sneak CCR 2008 in there!

I'll try to give you a call this weekend, I want to hear more about what's going on.

Put in now for the last week of August, 2008 off... By then, you'll have your boss talked into a GT, and he can come to CCR too.

"Mmmmmm, cushy government job".

Sounds like fun. On call, but mostly during business hours. An you can probably do lots of side jobs with that flexibility.

...or go riding.
