Don Arthur is now RETIRED! (from the Navy)

I was fortunate to attend Don's retirement ceremony at Bethesda Monday.

Impressive ceremony. First time I ever saw officers on parking lot duty!

His sideboys were all admirals!

Don: Congratulations and best wishes for many happy years to come.

David: Thanks for sharing, and (looking at your photo) that's "side boys and side girls" -- there's a lady Admiral on the right.

Yep, but they make no distinction, still called Sideboys by tradition.

Funny, the lead of the sideboys was an enlisted, funny to hear him calling the commands and admirals following. He was a member of the Navy Ceremonial Guard.

My son in law just got stationed in DC, he is now Command Master Chief of the Navy Ceremonial Guard.
