I didn't think this stuff happened in Texas...

News this morning includes a Dallas Texas high school student who was sent home yesterday because the low-cut blouse and mini-skirt outfit chosen as school attire yesterday was deemed inappropriate and met the criteria of "distracting and likely to interrupt the learning process" causing the principal to send the student home.

The school district announced that "it will work with the student and the student's parent to resolve the issue."

Oh, the student is a MALE.

I truly believe that when it comes to religion, politics and sexual preference...as long as it doesn't hurt children, and as long as the person doesn't force his or her beliefs on me or try to "convert" me, if it makes ya' happy, good for you!

But some things are just too f**king much...

if the kid wants to wear women's clothing, do it after school, outside and away from tax-funded institutions...you know, like my Uncle Sally did!

that's what that high school kid had, and I think it may not have been fully "concealed."

well, what do you expect when you have a senator arrested in an airport bathroom for soliciting sex..."uh, but I'm not gay..."

Next thing you know, they'll tell us that Hillary Clinton used her political influence to illegally make money on a real estate deal or something.

I want to nominate Hans for President, Governor, mayor, board of education president, or anything else. Oh, for the good old days when some discipline -- appropriate applied, and including corporal punishment -- could be administered at school (and home!) without a call to the school's lawyer, parental notification, and notarized statements.

I partially agree with Pete, live and let live etc. as long as it doesn't hurt anyone.

but some of what's going on in the "world" today is not "allright" with me,
the way I see it:

If you want to "pick your nose"
Go home, lock your door and close the drapes.
Use both hands if you want to.

But don't do it around me

There's a bigger issue here (well even bigger than the fact that someone actually, if just partially, AGREED with me on something), my friend.

I have two daughters in taxpayer-supported public schools, the oldest will be a high school freshman next year.

I don't think that it's necessary or appropriate in any POSSIBLE way for the "needs" of special people like this goof to be accomodated for (through the likely modification of school dress code to allow for "him" to cross-dress) when the result of that is that kids, DAUGHTERS like mine are then forced to deal with issues like this.

(and no, I'm not foolish enough to think that I can put my little princesses in plastic bubbles and shield them from all of the evil and unplesantness of the world, but I know damn well that I can protect them from environments that include things like that as long as they are legal minors through involvement in their social activities and monitoring of those they choose as friends and where they go...my efforts to preserve their innocence and belief that the world is a beautiful place as long as I possibly can shouldn't be stomped on by a perceived "need" to allow expression of some 17-year old's self-perceived sexual identity, particularly if he's one of say 2,000 students in a school)

Holy shit, when did I turn into my grandfather?

lol

It is interesting to note that on another thread, some of us raised holy hell at the idea that an employer could influence whether or not we ride a bike to work, which of course is contrary to our nature.

Then some of those same folks on this thread think the government could and should force transsexuals to dress contrary to their "nature."

In the former case there is a real dollar-and-cents case to be made for a prohibition. In the latter it is solely a case of passing moral judgement on people who are not like us.

It would be very unfortunate if a four-wheeled "moral majority" decided that motorcycles are outside the mainstream, and therefore should be banned.

Wouldn't it?
