Unhappy Not sure I'll be making CCR this year...

I have two customers that are moving to brand new offices between now and the end of the month, and another customer is talking opening a small office 2.5 hours from here by the end of the month. All of them are depending on me to have their phones and computers up and running when the doors open. ARGH!!! Good money, but why all at once?

And then to add to that, I recently interviewed for an amazing position. If I get it, there goes any chance of me making it to CCR.

I'll know how things are shaking out by the end of this week . . . but right now, it's not looking so good. Bummer...

Well that just plain sucks, Joe! Business and good money are important, and knowing you're self-employed I know you don't throw jobs away to go and play (at least not too much ). I hope it works out where you can go, but if not that'll just make it all that much more fun for you next year in Toadsuck!

Them's Dangerous Words Mr.

Well, you'd just better figure out a way to show up..

It won't be the same without you.. We will, of course, make you the butt of all our jokes and schemes.

Luckily the Texas contingent will all be there to help me keep the place in check.

See you soon, I hope

Bummer, Joe, but I understand. Sometimes life gets in the way. Fortunately, you have a lot of good friends here that empathize and will support your decision in the same mature, rational way that you would if it happened to one of your friends.

OK, who's bringing the name tags?

Don't serve me that plate of shit. Your plan that you sent to me was to come over and stay in one of the spare rooms, and while there, install the water proof box I made for your Valentine. Didn't bother me that you didn't show up, plans change on the road, understood.

I guess we got our wires crossed. I recall you being awful busy with a store you wuz trying to open, and that you hadn't even ridden for a couple of weeks. I didn't want to put you out. I guess I was wrong...

Yea, I know, you're right. I just can seem to get away from the required toiling to enjoy more riding

Fortunately, maybe similar to you Grif, I lived enough of a life from 1979 to 1991 to last me a lifetime. I can't complain.

If only I could remember those years. I didn't get clean & sober till 1992.

While I toil, at least I get to ride. When the store was open, I rode to it everyday (except the first 4 months when I was doing build out: truck and trailer ). Now, I'm doing our payroll and PEO again... and get to ride everyday.... and write it off

The bike will be a year old next month and it has over 11k on the clock without any big trips. The last part of that sentence is the saddest.

Your 1st statement of the second interview is . . .

I can start right AFTER CCR!

Good luck, my friend.

Or for the softer side of Joe . . .
When can I start?

I am going to TRY to work the deal...we'll see. They know that I am self-employed and may have some business that I need to clean-up before I start there. They don't need to know that "CCR" isn't some accounting firm in downtown Cleveland that needs my attention for the better part of the last week of August.

If Joe doesn't come to CCR we all have to wear a nametag that says Joe - Messenger13.

Yeah, we've learned that interesting things can happen when we're both in the same room at the same time.

Good luck with the job, Joe.

Yep, but there has to be a balance. Gotta work to pay for the toys, but not so much that you can't enjoy them. I hated missing CCR last year, but I managed to swing a new bike out of it and have already put 17K on it so far this year.

I think they're starting to understand though. I laid out my time off for CCR this year and no one questioned it. And now we need to send some critical parts to Colorado for repair, and they looked at me and said "You'd probably rather just ride them there on your bike." I hear Colorado is lovely this time of year.

Now there's gotta be a story there worth telling . . .

(How's that, Joe? Three posts in your thread in a row, and all relevant. )

Joe, just remember: when filling out the application, the part that says PRINT YOUR NAME, don't put "your name". It has never worked for me as I'm still unemployed after all these years.

Just as I have found that 'sure', 'occasionally' or 'rarely' are not good answers for 'sex'.
