Perhaps you didn't listen to the audio. He brushed the wall on the turn just before the crash and it caused him to loose his grip. If I brushed a wall at 170 MPH I wouldn't give any odds I would even have made it to the next turn.

Latest issue of Motorcyclist had a many page write up of the Isle of Man TT. 208 deaths in the last 100 years of racing there. As the bar has been raised for the speed, so has the cojones.

The day before racing starts is an open day for bikers - you get to ride the circuit, and there are NO speed limits. Actually there are speed limits but there aren't enough police to stop the thousands of bikers out there to 'have a go'. My eldest rode his V-Strom on the first 10 miles and then got off the circuit because it was crazily dangerous. He did say that although the road surface is pretty good it's still a public road so how anyone can manage to get round some of the bends at 170 is beyond him.

Apparently the Germans are the craziest....

That's what happens when you wave to passing motorcycles.

He fell off, happens in that race.
You have to love a place where they duct tape old matress'es to the phone booths for the race.
