I also had a bad week, but you get the prize.
I once went through one of those brown outs in Imperial Valley on my nice shiny black LT! Stopped on the way home at the rest stop in El Centro to put on more clothing, as I knew it was going to get colder going up the mountains. Wind was blowing HARD, had to park the bike pointing into it so it would not blow over. Right after leaving the rest stop, the sand started kicking up, and in a couple more miles I could only see about 100 feet ahead. Of course as many know, once you leave the rest stop in El Centro, there is NO place to pull over until you are over the mountains, except a couple of small radiator water pull outs for overheating cars. Stayed that way until I was well up the side of the pass. Took a pretty good toll on my pretty black LT. Strangely, the wind was blowing mostly from the right side, but the LEFT side fairings and front of the left side case took most of the beating. Never figured that one out.
When I got home, I shook a lot of sand out of my clothing, and could feel it inside my helmet for days afterward.
Glad you are feeling better, but sorry about the Merc! don't know which was worse, the sand blasting outside, or the S*** blasting inside!
I don't want to achieve immortality through my work...I want to achieve it through not dying.
