Exclamation Rider's Proverbs

  1. Never ride faster than your guardian angels can fly.
  2. Midnight bugs taste best.
  3. If itís nice enough to wash, itís nice enough to ride.
  4. Most of a bikeís mechanical problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.
  5. Never try to race an old geezer. He may have one more gear than you.
  6. The only good view of a thunderstorm is in your rearview mirrors.
  7. Never be afraid to slow down.
  8. Ride at your own pace.
  9. If you wait, all that happens is that you get older.
  10. Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of gas before you can think straight.
  11. Riding faster than everyone else only guarantees that you'll ride alone. But sometimes . . . thatís not all bad.
  12. Never do less than 40 miles before breakfast.
  13. If you don't ride in the rain, you don't ride.
  14. A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.
  15. Respect the person who has seen the dark side of motorcycling and lived to tell about it.
  16. Young riders pick a destination and go. Old riders pick a direction and go.
  17. A good mechanic will let you watch without charging you for it.
  18. Sometimes the fastest way to get there is to stop for the night.
  19. Always back your bike into the curb, and sit where you can see it.
  20. Work to ride, and ride to work.
  21. When you look down the road, it seems to never end - but you better believe that it does.
  22. Winter is nature's way of telling you to rethink your gear.
  23. Keep your bike in good repair. Motorcycle boots are NOT comfortable for walking that far.
  24. People are like motorcycles; each customized a bit differently.
  25. The twisties separate the riders from the posers.
  26. When you're riding lead, don't spit.
  27. A friend is someone who'll get out of bed at 2 am to drive his pickup to the middle of nowhere to rescue you.
  28. Catching a yellow jacket in your shirt @ 70 mph can double your vocabulary.
  29. Don't lead the pack if you don't know where you're going.
  30. Practice wrenching on your own bike.
  31. Everyone crashes. Some get back on. Some don't. Some can't.
  32. Life may begin at 30, but it doesn't get interesting until about 80 mph. VERY interesting at 130!
  33. Never be ashamed to unlearn an old habit. Especially a bad one.
  34. A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and should use up a lot of fuel.
  35. If you can't get it going with a radiator clamp or Gaff tape, it's serious.
  36. If you always ride like there's no tomorrow, one day there won't be.
  37. Gray-haired riders don't get that way from pure luck.
  38. There are drunk riders. There are old riders. But there are NO old, drunk riders.
  39. The best mods cannot be seen from the outside.
  40. Always replace the cheapest parts first.
  41. Only a rider knows why a dog sticks itís head out of a that window.
  42. Keep the paint up, and the rubber down!
  43. No matter how much you paid for it, ride it like you stole it!

1. Never ride faster than your guardian angels can fly.

Joe, I'm going to put an MSF riding course (or equivalent) under # 1.
