A Little Wild Turkey for Christmas

I was up helping Kari set up her new photo printer she got for Christmas, when I looked out the window and saw these guys roaming around! We live close to some park land but we don't get that much wildlife in our cul-de-sac (other than the neighbor kid's parties ). I was really surprised when they flew up onto the roof of the neighbor's house, then took off from there over the house behind them and back up into the hills! That's a lot of animal to get airborne!

We get about 30-40 at a time strolling through our backyard. There are faster than one would think.

I've seen them when we've hiked in the hills behind the house, but that was a mile or more from where we live. It was strange and funny to see them walking up the street and into the yard, and really impressive when they took off flying from the neighbor's roof. I kept thinking about the WKRP episode where they dropped the turkeys from the helicopter for Thanksgiving. I can still hear Less Nessman screaming, "Oh the humanity!"

"With God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly."

Cool pics. I think the one in the back had a sign that said "Eat more Ham for the Holidays."

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...
