Ken Meese Sighting

On page 23 of the November 2017 issue of the AMA's American Motorcyclist magazine, in an article about another long-distance rider, there is a small photo. #2 in that photo is Ken, I think.

I was in the, uh, library reading this article when I saw the photo and thought "Hey, he looks familiar".

Re: Ken Meese Sighting

Haven't seen the issue, can you take a pic of the pic?

By chance, would the pic be of several IBR riders on a Newfoundland ferry?

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

It's a photo of 4 riders; could be on a ferry, could be in someone's garage. Almost certainly of IBR riders because the article is about Wendy Crockett; she is one of the four in the photo. I'll post it if I can.

Re: Ken Meese Sighting

As I suspected, it's the five of us on the Newfoundland ferry during the final leg of this year's Iron Butt Rally.

Left to right: Jim Owen (1st), Ken Meese (3rd), Wendy Crockett (7th), Erik Lipps (5th), Bob Lilley (2nd, taking the pic). That's my K13GT on the left, and Erik's FJR13 on the right.

As we all stood there waiting for the ferry to dock, I looked at the caliber of riders around me, and I remarked "If you're not on this ferry, you're not on the podium." Turns out I was right.

It was a hell of a ride, to be sure...
