Learning to use a mouse left handed

It is easier than I thought but it will only be 6 weeks. Well worth it to finally relive the pain in the base of the thumb. My posts may be slow and misspelled for then next 6 weeks.

That doesn't look like fun. I have no trouble at all using mouse with left hand, but being born with those skills helps. When I was a kid I had my left arm in a sling for awhile and had to try and use my right hand to write (way before computers). That wasn't fun either. Hope you pick up the south paw skills soon.

Re: Learning to use a mouse left handed Update

Got the soft brace removed yesterday and had the sutures removed. Now I am stuck in a hard cast for three weeks. June 1st it comes off and I begin rehab. Maybe by the end of June I'll be riding again. Whoo Hoo.

Re: Learning to use a mouse left handed

Careful John it can become addicting. I was without the use of my right hand for nearly four months after my refrigerator racing event. I now prefer to use the mouse with my left hand as it allows me to more effectively use my right hand on the keyboard, especially when entering numbers with the number keypad. Kind of a silver lining. Anyway hope healing is quick and complete and greetings to my favorite librarian.

As a "lefty" who has had to adapt to a backwards world, I've always thought "rightys" use the mouse with the wrong hand, but that makes it "right" for me. I do use my right on the keypad as it is on that side.

Stopped in at the Left Handed Store on Fisherman's Wharf, didn't buy anything, everything was backward to me.

Yup I think I am.

On another good side I believe my damaged nerves from the ruptured disc are making progress. I was originally only operating two of the four quads in my right leg. About a week ago I noticed the outboard quad was starting to operate and today I discovered the inboard one is now flexing. They are both very weak compared to the two center ones but at least I am "talking" to them again. Now to get them back up to full strength.

Re: Learning to use a mouse left handed Update

Well I got the nasty cast off the wrist today but I still have to wear a velcro brace for a while. At least I can remove it for showering. I really can't do much of anything with the thumb and can only touch my index finger with great difficulty. Looks like I have a bit more healing and therapy to go. Maybe on the bike again at the end of June. My next appointment is 29 June so we shall see.

Oh and I have gotten pretty darn good at left hand mousing. May even keep it up so as to reduce carpel tunnel effects on the right hand.
