HAS CYBER CRIME INVADED YOUR CELL PHONE-SCARY

This article says that the popular cell phone App "BRIGHTEST FLASH LIGHT" is a gate way to all the data on your phone and is being cataloged apparently by three countries, China, India and Russia.
WE ALL LOVE THE TECHNOLOGY BUT IF TRUE, THIS IS SCARY!

So, what say all you computer wizards ? Could this be true?

Watch this interview by Bret Baier on FOX news.

1) Fox news thrives on sensationalism, scaring their technology-limited viewers into tuning in EVERY SINGLE DAY!

2) Android is ride with malware. "Open" has its costs . . .

3) My iPhone ghas a built-in flashlight that works great, and doesn't need or get access to any of your data.

4) "Free" is usually worth exactly what you pay for it, and sometimes, even less . . .

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Who is Snoopwall? Was that a legitimate news program? Often these kinds of reports are self serving in that they want to sell something to you by scaring you away from another product.

Like your iPhone, my BlackBerry Z10 has it's own built in flashlight so need to download one. And why so many flashlight apps anyway?

Re: HAS CYBER CRIME INVADED YOUR CELL PHONE-SCARY

This computer wiz says: WRONG!

Origins: On 1 October 2014, cybersecurity company Snoopwall released a "threat assessment report" discussing flashlight apps for Android devices and security threats they may pose. According to Snoopwall (who recommends using their flashlight instead of competitors' apps) the list of permissions required by most flashlight apps is proof that the apps' makers are harvesting data and sending it abroad to cybercriminals.

A single flashlight app developer settled a complaint with the FTC over data collection policies in 2013. But the current anxiety over flashlight apps appears to have been prompted by the publicity surrounding the release of Snoopwalls' app rather than any specific breach of data security.

Flashlight apps are no riskier than any other app. Versions of Android verified by Google ensure that apps are pre-screened for malware, reducing the risk of malicious mobile software. No reports have surfaced indicating flashlight apps are sending user data to cybercriminals in any country. All third party apps (including flashlights) pose the risk of hidden malware if their developers are not on the up-and-up.

Re: HAS CYBER CRIME INVADED YOUR CELL PHONE-SCARY

Hold on now, are you saying that Fox "News" lied to their viewers in a sensational way, which 3 minutes of fact-checking could've easily proved false?

Say it isn't so . . .
