I'm planning/researching a ride around Lake Huron. Any suggestions, do's and don'ts.

Should I take the ferry or ride around on the TC hwy. First thought is to take the TC hwy all the way around.

I will be camping along the way.

Hi Dave ;I am going this Sunday the 11th and going thorugh the UP first then round Georgian bay;the ferry is 40dollars if you want to know;; I am not taking that I rather ride my bike.I am going to Manitoulin Islands to check that also on my way around

If you are not taking the ferry you have to go back to Espanola along the same route you went to the island. The island is a bigger place than it might appear on a map so it could add quite a lot of time to your ride. I bet you will use the $40 in gas by going around Georgian Bay. If you are going to Sudbury and then south you are basically on a Interstate type road and it isn't really viable to leave it till you are just north of Barrie. There is lot of beautiful scenery in any case and some nice roads. I went around the top of the Great Lakes a couple of weeks ago, it was a good ride but there is a long stretch of construction east of Thunder Bay but you won't be that far west on your trip.

Dave I am not trying to steal your thread but I think I am going to take the ferry across and spend more time on the Island I did not realize how much Interstate there was after you get past the Island Thanks Gerhard

Does the Ferry have good places to hook tie downs on for the LT.

I think I agree! The ferry sounds better. Sounds like a great trip!!

They have places in the deck to hook into, they also have straps but lots of bikes like to carry their own.
