Hey Gary, looking forward to the ride report when you return. I was planning on doing the Alaska trip next July but will be riding the RT, I'd like your opinion when you return on whether the RT is up to it especially Top of the World hwy.

Did the trip in 2010. It's something you will remember forever.

Re: Deadhorse Alaska Trip, 4 July 2013

I am planning to go to Alaska next year about mid-late June on my 11' RT. Won't do the Dalton as I don't think I have the right bike. I will probably go to Fairbanks, Anchorage, and south of there. On the return, I will go south to Prince Rupert, BC.
I have been across country a few times so I will do a quick direct route to Fort St John. I plan to pick up the milepost app for my iPad. I am travelling solo and plan to do some tenting so will have to watch for bears!
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated and would love to hear about others who have done the trip. From Newfoundland, it will be quite the ride!
Thanks
Kelly

Plenty of all different bikes were up there. Either highway you go, Top of the World or highway 1 will have gravel on them. If you can ride the Top of the World highway you can get to Deadhorse. The Denali is 100% gravel and a fun road to ride. We did tenting and hotels when it was wet. You may want to plan to get to Dawson City on June 21st, summer solstice (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=735855) let me know when you are in Edmonton, maybe we could get together.

Re: Deadhorse Alaska Trip, 4 July 2013

Hi Gary,
Thanks for the heads up on the get together in Dawson City. That's a good plan to see how I make out on the other highways first. It will also depend on the weather. The southern area of Alaska looks like some very nice riding as well. I sure you have some great pictures and tales from your trip!
Thanks,
Kelly
