Lake Superior in July

Two of us are going to ride up to Sault Ste Marie and continue around Lake Superior. Does anyone have any recommendations oxford motels, food and sights to see ?

I have been searching for an article but can not find any. I do have the Circle Tour booklet.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Naniboujou Lodge on the shores of Superior about 1 1/2 hours north of Duluth. Unique and very good. Google it.

Also dine (lunch or dinner) at Nokomis on the Lake on scenic Ry 61 about ten mile north of Duluth

Re: Lake Superior in July

I thought I'd revive this thread since we too will be going up into Canada the weekend after the Sedalia Rally. Were going up into Canada from the Minnesota side and up to the northern shores of Lake Superior and around to Toronto and through Niagara Falls. I've been finding a few places to stay on the northern and north eastern parts but does anybody have any ideas or recommendations in these areas. I found a lot of info and places on the US side in Minnesota and up to Thunder Bay but after that not a lot of info.

Highway 17, north of the Soo has some terrific scenery as you hug the coast of Lake Superior. Worth stopping to see the Indian Pictographs at http://www.lakesuperiorpark.ca/index...d=41&Itemid=44
This would be a nice place to stay and do dinner: http://www.salzburgerhofresort.com/

Kinnewabi restaurant just south of Wawa, its on the lake side of the hwy., you have to watch closely or miss it, they have sensational food and also has cabins for rent, a bit pricey though. In Thunder Bay you'll want to stop at the Hoito on Bay St for Finnish pancakes, an amazing breakfast. Great view from the "Old Woman's Bay" rest stop 45 minutes south of Wawa, good place for a break.

I live in Thunder Bay, if you need anything PM me.

Salzburger Hof, about an hour or two west of Sault Saint Marie. Decent lakeside accommodations and good German food. Family run. Reasonably priced.

Re: Lake Superior in July

Hmmm, you could always take a little time off the bikes and get in some good surfing, although I hear the breaks are better in the winter. Superior, they say, never gives up her dead when the gales of November come early.
