OK, I did it

Well I was at Durham BMW yesterday. Put a deposit on a 2011 K1?00LT I am # 3 on the delivery list for Feb/Mar 2011. It is a fully refundable deposit, so if I don't want the 2011 I can get it back. Now just have to sit back and wait.

Re: OK, I did it

Congrats on the purchase. Now the questions start: why a 2011, what's different than the 2010 model?

New member here, just sold my '08 Hayabusa this morning looking for an R1200RT, test riding a 2010 on Wednesday at Budd's in Oakville, also looking at an '07 in Ottawa area later in the week.

Love to have your opinion.

They stopped making the LT in '09....the NEW LT has not been unvailed yet. Only speculation on the engine.

So the difference...
-09 = known
-11 = unknown

Re: OK, I did it

The new K-1600-GTL was just announced today
http://www.webbikeworld.com/BMW-moto...bmw-k-1600-gt/

and has a couple of interesting details that will hopefully eliminate some reliability issues with the K1200LT:
1. "In keeping with the high performance figures, the propeller shaft, cardan joints and rear axle final drive were newly designed." Imagine that - the final drive was redesigned!!!
2. "Torque is transmitted from the crankshaft to a self-energizing 10-disc wet clutch with anti-hopping function via a straight-toothed primary drive." Imagine that - a wet clutch!!!
3. "They are composite camshafts in which the individual cams are compression-molded for positive coupling with the shaft, which has a tubular design." Hope they have done their homework with composite cams!
4. " Wth the new BMW Motorrad touring bikes, the first ever "Adaptive Headlight" for motorcycles is available as option ex works, in addition to the standard xenon (HID) headlight." This sounds very neat.

Can hardly wait to see what you think on your first ride!!!

Did they have any inkling of possible price? Like say...between 30 and 40K?
