Hwy 97 Question

Hello fellows up north. Gonna be doing a run up your Hwy 97 next month, most likely, to the Bennett Dam a bit past the West Moberly lake. How is Hwy 97? Will be a solo trip and just want to know if there is anything I should watch out for, road conditions etc. With luck, I will make it from Portland to Quesnel the first day, to the dam and back to Quesnel the second day and then back home. Unless I get a wild hair and go east.

Any words of wisdom for the area is greatly appreciated.

Hey SIT....you'll enjoy that ride. Take care of watching for deer, bears etc on the road sides etc. Also take care around Prince George for the boys with radar/laser guns. Hwy 29 from Chetwynd is really great & the Dam is worth the visit, but if you want to tour of it, then I don't think you'll get back to Quesnel during daylight depending on when your going up there. Our local club has done the a ride up that area the past 2 years. Another great road is hwy 29 southeast past Chetwynd off Hwy 97 goes thru Tumbler Ridge & it joins back onto Hwy 97 west of Dawson Creek.
Enjoy & Ride Safe

Re: Hwy 97 Question

Thanks for the info. I going to the Dam as part of the Dam Tour. An actual tour of the dam would be neat, but since I will be by myself and with luck will return to Quesnel, I will skip any real tour. Normally it is just, find a photo spot, take photo, down some water and a power bar and be off again. But looking at map again, maybe stop in Prince George instead of trying to get back to Quesnel. That should keep me in the day light. I might just pop over towards the Jasper area for another contest and then Kamloops depending on how I am feeling. Heck who knows, as long as there is gas along the way!!
