Riding In Vegas

Last weekend I was down in Vegas where I had my bike stored. I took it for a ride down to Death Valley and met this most amazing character when filling up for gas at a little service station in the middle of nowhere. He looks at me and then at my bike and asks why I wasn't patriotic enough to ride a domestic brand like a Harley. I told him that I was Canadian and that every brand to me was a foreign brand. He then said that I should still be driving a Harley because every other brand was just a copy off their original invention. When I told him that Daimler and Maybach invented the motorcycle in Germany in 1885 some 20 years at least before it happened in the States he wouldn't believe it. I told him that he should be riding a BMW because at least it came from the birthplace of motorcycles. He then asked me why I was wearing a BMW riding suit and a full face helmet and not chaps and a leather vest. He said it made me look like a spaceman. I told him that his outfit made him look like he was auditioning for a part in Pirates of The Caribbean. He looked at me, laughed and said, you might have a point there. You sure meet some interesting people riding a motorcycle.
