Best deal on Insurance

Just wondering what other CDNs are paying for insurance. My 2008 RT1200 is costing @ $1,300/yr at State Farm. I have tried to compare with a couple of other places but don't find much better. Any one have a good recommendation?

You might try TD insurance. The number is 1-877-887-8886. I use them for my 05LT. I Check every year and no one beats them for BMW bike insurance. I get a preferred rate because I have my house and auto with them as well.

If they don't deliver try Rider's Plus. They seem the most reasonable after TD. I actually got a better quote from Rider's Plus for a Moto Guzzi Griso 1100 that I'm looking at.

Hope this helps.

Re: Best deal on Insurance

I am now with TD insurance. I also have an 08 RT. I pay $875 and my partner pays $775 (08 R1200R). We have the benefit of multi vehicle discount plus house & car with the same insurer.

Note: TD does not offer full payout if you sustain a total loss in the first 2 years. Riders Plus does and I was quoted about one hundred bucks more.

Most everyone i know is at about a thousand a year for insurance. Your experience level and residence location may have a bearing on the premium.

Every state has different requirements and in Florida, I've had State Farm for many years for all of out insurance needs. Unfortunately State Farm has decided to cancel all homeowners insurance in Florida and when it's official, I'll be in the market for all policies as it's generally better to have all with the same company.

When I check around every few years and compare similar policies, State Farm always cost us less then the others. Key is to compare like policies. I have heard good things about Progressive and Farmers, but they have never been less than State Farm for us.

Also from Alberta with a 2006 1200RT with Jevco just shy of 600 dollars. I believe they are out of Montreal but pick it up through Alberta Motor Association office here in Calgary.

Re: Best deal on Insurance

I had been paying $1237 from Kingsway Insurance (Through Cooperators) based on the previous posts, I did an on-line quote through Riders Plus and got a quote of $998. I have approx $5000 of accessories on the bike, so that adds a bit to the premium. Looks like I'll change in April when my insurance is due!!!

Re: Best deal on Insurance

Thanks to all for your input. I am not sure what I am doing but TD quoted me @ 1,600 and Riders plus alittle more. I have a clean record but my problem is that I only have an M2 license. I'll have to upgrade to a full M license and then try again.

Our insurance system is not exactly the same in what used to be and called ''La belle province'', but I pay 297.00$ for a 2007 K1200GT to AXA , and 518.00$ to the gov. for the license plate.

Re: Best deal on Insurance

Get a quote from Kanetix.ca.
They are a broker for Kingsway, but they had by far the least expensive rates of everyone I checked with.
I have been with Co-Operators with my cars for 25 years, they were 2 times more expensive for my bike then I'm paying now.

Re: Best deal on Insurance

I just got back into biking after 35+ years, having acquired my M license in the 60's. No tickets, no claims on my cars.

I priced insurance from 6 brokers for my '99 LT. Jevco, Kingsway, and Rider's Plus were the companies most of them used. Prices ranged from $1179 to $1639 for full coverage. Even within Jevco quotes there was a $400 difference between brokers for the same coverage, which doesn't make sense to me. (* Two agents said to avoid Kingsway as they are in some difficulty right now, but another refuted that idea)

Following Garry Kramer's advice, I got a quote from Dalton Timmis. Through Aviva Elite, their price was $839/year. That's who I signed with last weekend, and I now have 350 km under my belt as I learn to handle LT. My neighbour, who has several Harleys and is a longtime rider, just insured with them also, saying it was a significant savings.

I know nothing about their service if you have a claim, but all contact with them to-date getting the quote and setting up the policy was fast, professional, and most co-operative.
I dealt with Edward Hunt:
