Canadian and CCR 2009??

Hi all Canadians;

Just wondering if any Canadians were considering going to the CCR in 2009?

Anyone been there in the past years? How was the event?

Might be considering going in 2009 for a nice trip with the wife.

Thumbs up Re: Canadian and CCR 2009??

Hi Bowdon

I have been to the last 4 CCR's and they have all been great. Briefly.... they usually get 400 to 500 attendees, have the local BMW dealer attend so that you get have minor service work performed, tires installed etc. There is also several vendors who attend so that you can purchase products like clothing, accessories, tours, etc. They also have several seminars that show you first hand how to change fluids, set valves, repair items etc. Doing the local area riding is great as people who live in and around where the event is held provide information on the best roads. We also get involved in local events such as the parade ride last year and helping the local charity through the silent auction event, in Midway Utah. (we raised over $28,000.00 last year and absolutely had the local charity representatives speechless, not bad for only around 400 bikers!)
Now the best part is meeting and making new friends, then looking forward to meeting them again the next year!
I could go on but I think you get the idea.............look forward to seeing you there!

Ferrasr;

Thanks for the reply. I am trying to arrange the time for the CCR this year. It sounds like it would be something different then the BMWMOA which we have attended a few ( with other rallies thrown in during the year!!!).
For us, it would be around 2000 miles there!! Which would be a good ride for the LT!!! I notice that not many Canadian travel the distance to the CCR ( at least from Ontario or Quebec) except the Western Canadians!!!
I will discuss this with the wife, and see if this sounds good for this year!!
Let you know if we are coming!!
Regards,
Bowdon

We may go, a couple of long days or 3 leisurely days from Thunder Bay. We were thinking of heading southwest anyway.

Re: Canadian and CCR 2009??

Hi all Canadians;

My wife and I have just signed up for the CCR 2009 at Rapid City.

I guess we will start planning for the trip.

I am looking at a few different routes ( one through Thunder Bay, down through Fargo and onto Rapid City) or through Buffalo, New York, Chicago through to Rapid City.

Anyone have taken the Thunder Bay route? Looks a little more interesting.

Any suggestions?

I went to Wyoming last summer from Toronto. Chose to go through Sault Ste Marie, then Duluth, then S Dakota. I found it a good route.

If you have the time go through US come back Canadian route. See more, and you can say,"been there, done that".
