Plattsville here. Got my LT last year from a friend in the states, got in some riding( not enough) and love the bike. Travel a lot with new job now(sitting in Calgary as I type) so cant wait to cherish every second this year on the bike.

Apparently the BMW management knows what is best for their customers, and that is drive to Toronto or London.
I was told that Wolf BMW out of London has the rights to Kitchener area. He fought the local Volkswagen dealer when they tried to sell Beemers.

Re: Canadians where are you and what BMW bike do you drive?

Bought my 04 LT out of Calgary in January, trailered her home then anxiously awaited the prairie polar deep freeze to end! It's been a dream to ride! I've changed all the fluids except the brakes, which is on the agenda before the end of the season. It has to be one of the smoothest bikes I've ridden.

Re: Canadians where are you and what BMW bike do you drive?

I just bought my 2006 K1200LT on June 10th. Pristine condition with 11,000 miles on the odometer. Between the rain and work, I have only put about another 450 miles on it so far, but certainly liking the bike thus far. Quite a step up in size from the 2008 Suzuki S50 that I have now sold.

I think I am going to get a Russel seat this winter though.

Current Bike:
2006 BMW K1200LT purchased June 2014, and loving this thing so far!

Re: Canadians where are you and what BMW bike do you drive?

I ride out of Miracle Beach, Vancouver Island, BC. My current bikes are: 2005 R1200RT, 2007 R1200R, 2009 R1200RT and a 2014 F800GS. Usually, I ride somewhere everyday and enjoy long distance travel.

While I enjoy travelling alone, I also belong to and ride with the AZ Beemers, out of Phoenix Arizona. My riding is split between 6 months in Canada and 6 months in the USA.

My tip for winter bike storage is to take it down to AZ for the winter.

Re: Canadians where are you and what BMW bike do you drive?

Hello from Golden BC in the Rockies . I have a 2013 K1600GT which I bought in Feb 2014 and had to wait 2 long months to ride! It now has over 23000km on the clock
I had test ridden one in South Africa the month previously--interestingly they let me do the test ride even though I was upfront about not buying from them! I did pick up a few "not inexpensive" items from them to ease the guilt pangs ( Rallye 3 pants and jacket and a helmet---with the change in the exchange rate in our favour, I saved hundreds of dollars ) . My nearest Motorrad dealer is Blackfoot Motorsports in Calgary ( 3.5 hours away) with Bentley Motorrad in Kelowna another hour further but in the other direction

Re: Canadians where are you and what BMW bike do you drive?

Hi BMW riders.
I have been enjoying my Triumph Trophy for the last 3 years as it is about 200 LB lighter than my 1200 LT
First time on this site for a long time. The only thing I would wish for is a quiter engine. Other than that the Trophy is a bargain pricewise when compared to a RT or LT. 3 cylinders, same power and much lighter. Hope everyone has a great summer and stay safe.
Cheers,
Jim

Re: Canadians where are you and what BMW bike do you drive?

Hi,

Steve in Ottawa, Ontario. Riding a new to me 2005 K1200LT with 65K on her.

Since I am new to this bike, where do I go to ask questions about the bike since she is new to me?

For instance, when I start it up there is a red exclamation mark on left dash, eventually goes away when I start riding but have no clue as to what it means.

Also, where do others in Ottawa get servicing, Motorrad dealer at OGTC or other?

I would like to carry out some of my own servicing but wouldn't know where to begin, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Steve

Not really familiar with the LT but it sounds like the test that the ABS system does on start up, it needs a few revolutions of the wheels to pass the test.

Welcome to the site and hope you enjoy the bike.

Hi fellow riders,

I have a 2016 RT and live in Orleans, Ontario.

I've been overseas for the last four years during which I had a Benelli 125 scooter. Before you ask, the RT is definitely a step up.

In the past I've had an RS1150, a 2011 RT1200 and in the distant past an R80/7.

Welcome to the forum. On Aug 25 to Aug 27 the group I belong to have an event planned near Calabogie (Whitelake) not to far from you, it is always a great time both riding and fellowship. The group is based on Honda bikes but last year probably 10% of the bikes where BMW, and another 15% to 20% split between Yamaha, Kawasaki and even a Moto Guzzi. Folks from all over Ontario, quite a few from Ohio, New York some from New England and the one rider from Florida attended. This year there is tour of the Calabogie race track planned which include allowing us to ride the track.

You’re correct there’s lots of dust and cricket noise from Canada. I’m from Leduc Alberta and ride a 07 Storm Grey Metallic LT with only 22,000 KLM’s on her total. Keep safe.
