Going to the dark side...

After eight years, I have sold my '04 LT and fell victim to a deal I couldn't refuse on a 2013 Concours.

First impressions, wow this thing seems small and nimble. Second? "yeah, emphasis on SMALL compared to the land yacht. Third? Holy S&%t is this thing fast...I'm glad that they ask you to keep it below 4,000rpm the first 500 miles or I'd already have my first performance awards.

I've come to respect and enjoy everyone here on the BMWLT forum (some more than others, lol), so I'm not going anywhere (besides, once I hit the lottery, I'm getting a KGT, and an RT and a 1200S and a GS-Adventure, and...).

If anyone needs a used bakup back rest in good condition or a never-opened set of stainless fasteners, I'm selling both to fund my new farkling adventures. Drop me a note, make me an offer, or offer something fun in trade.

Pete

Re: Going to the dark side...

Well, I could go on and suggest you glue 40 sft of plastic to your C14 so you will be ready to do all sort of maintenance work as if it were an LT...

Congrats on the new bike.
You will feel like you have a moped under you compared to the LT...

Thumbs up Re: Going to the dark side...

The dark side? Sounds to me like you've finally been ENLIGHTENED.

Congrats, Pete. I just got done hanging out with a group of Beemer owners. Coexistence is possible!

Sounds like fun!

I felt much the same when I test ride an FJR1300A last summer. Man was that small. I felt very exposed compared to my LT.

But what a sweet Powertrain. Smooth, well calibrated FI (completely unlike any BMW I have ridden), slick gearbox, etc., but really small and very little wind protection.

Would be a fun fair weather solo bike, but definitely not a two-up touring steed.

WOW, and all this time I thought the dark side was Harley Davidson! As long as you are riding on two wheels you still in the brother hood. Enjoy your new Connie. If I were buying new today it would be a Triumph Trophy. They are awesome too!

I like the Connie, but just couldn't bend my 6'3" frame onto it. Should be a nice ride - enjoy it!

Congrats Pete, The C-14 are great bikes. Out of the box IMO much better suspension, handling and ergos than the overly praised FJR.

Hey Pete,

Glad to hear you'll still be around. Hope you totally enjoy the new toy. Now, what's this about stainless fasteners? I recall a stainless car cup holder trade we made years ago. Still using it.

Have fun,
Jer

Re: Going to the dark side...

Congrats on the new Connie! I still miss my '86 Connie, she ran like a scalded cat. The only mods she had was K&N air filter, Handlebar risers, Spiegler brake lines and a Corbin seat with backrest. Great for a single rider but my wife never felt secure on it, hence the LT. Did get hand buzz off the Connie though, something I've heard they fixed on the C14 engine balancing. Enjoy!

Re: Going to the dark side...

Jer, Desmo fasteners for all of the tupperware (already claimed).

As soon as I install 2"/2" pullback risers and peg lowerers, I'll be a happy camper, I tried the FJR and even with peg lowers, I couldn't fit my size 14s under the controls comfortably/safely.

It's not a replacement for the LT, just a different bike (I'll always love the LT). a couple tweaks and the thing will be throwing 160hp to the rear wheel, if that's not enough to keep me grinning, I'd better start looking at used S1000RRs
