trip suggestion

So I am flying in to Philly to pick up a bike I just bought and have a few days to get back to the Chicago area. Rarely have travelled east so I am wondering if anyone has an interesting route to get me back in a 2 day time frame and keeping off interstates as much as possible?

Re: trip suggestion

Doesn't really seem like you have much time to go route, for me that would be a two day ride on Interstate type roads. If you had an extra day I would route through West Virginia, lots of good motorcycle roads there.

Re: trip suggestion

I'm afraid you are going to be forced to ride straight thru. I'd hop on I80 and head for home if you only have two days. You can always hop off I80 if you see some touristy attraction that trips your trigger. Philly to Erie is a good day if you stop occasionally for refreshment and gas. From Erie to Chicago is around 7 hours via interstate. Since you don't need to come as far north as Erie, you'll shave a couple hours off.

Re: trip suggestion

You may want to consider taking US 50 across to avoid the slab. I haven't ridden this part of it but planning on riding it after CCR. My Bride & I will ride to New England together then she will catch a flight from Baltimore back to So Cal.

Re: trip suggestion

Rt 6 across northern PA is a scenic ride. I rode north into MI and took the Luddington ferry over to WI one year. Just about any secondary route across PA or WV is scenic. I picked my way through central WV on county roads last year and had a great time riding off the beaten path. I'm not familiar with scenic routes across OH and IN so someone else may chime in.

Re: trip suggestion

Weather was pretty poor the first day so I just hit I80 all the way. RIg is a real handful in high winds at 75mph+ so it was pretty tiring. GOt home safe and I love the new addition to the garage.

Great looking rig, Ron - really nice. A do-it-all bike, although I couldn't find the kitchen sink!!

What's the history on it. Looks brandy new. Congrats to ya.
