In a bit of a Quandary.

Hello all,
I'm afraid I'm stuck between a tough choice.
I recently took a test drive on a 97 RT 78000 KMs (50000 miles or so) and loved it.the R motor was great and responsive. All The BMW cases are there. It's an all around touring bike that I love the looks of. I put down a deposit and made the deal conditional on my mechanic's pre purchase appraisal.
My mechanic is the established BMW specialist in my city. He said that all around things were good. There is an issue with the windscreen that the dealership has promised to repair. The big issue is with the ABS. My mechanic said that he was unable to communicate with the ABS unit. That was his biggest concern.
I went back to the dealership and presented my report. They said that they will have all the work completed by my mechanic for an additional $1000.00. that brings the price up to $5500.00 + dealer fee of $405.00. If the work is done I would be happy with that. The question is. Can you fix an ABS fault on that bike for that price? or is it a deal breaker?

What is a dealer fee?
