Rider Interview - Motorrad Hans Blesse

Just read the interview in Rider April 2013, with Hans Blesse - BMW in the Americas.

I was hoping to hear some strategy about how BMW is going to increase its market share, especially in the US. Even though Mark Tuttle teed up a few questions Hans never really went after it - for example:

Q: Were you assigned to the Americas to try to take advantage of untapped sales potential?
A: We camp up with our global strategy, the company has one, the car side has one, every division has one and we have ours. Looking at the world, the Americas and Asia, we divided up those chunks...We think the Americas as a whole, both north and south, have huge untapped potential.

Q: Could BMW do a better job of targeting new and returning riders?
A: We believe we do a very good job of it...
He then goes on to say that they aren't trying to sell $17K bikes to 17 year olds, and that people are coming into the brand in the 32 to 40 year old range. Ok I've got no problem with any of that. I just don't get a sense that they have a strategy to grow their market share.

And that got me to thinking - With existing market share around 3%, do you think that it is possible for BMW to obtain 10% market share in the US?
