Reno in March

I have to be in Reno on March 27 and would prefer to make the trip from Las Vegas on my RT. Anyone from around that area that might have an idea whether I am likely to run into bad weather or snow/ice between Vegas and Reno?

Re: Reno in March

That time of year you have a good shot at clean roads during the daylight hours but it could still be cold. Watch the weather for approaching storms from the west, could be great or it could snow like hell.

Re: Reno in March

Thanks. I have no flexibility and must be there early the 27th so it sounds like plane or car is a safer bet. Damn! The bike is always my first choice. They have offered to book me at the Silver Legacy Casino for the night of the the 26th. Good choice or could I do better?

Re: Reno in March

Silver Legacy is right downtown so if your business is in that area it's a good place to sleep. The hotel is connected to two other casino/hotels by walkways so you don't have to go outside if it's cold. The Peppermill or Atlantis are away from downtown by about three miles but both very nice.

Re: Reno in March

Did the ride and it was beautiful. Pretty windy as I neared Reno on Tuesday, but no problems. I returned through Death Valley and made a stop for a tour of Scotty's Castle. Turns out that riding was definitely the right decision (as it usually is).
