Radio / Mic / Helmet Controls

I'm a new member to this site and a new owner of '99 K1200LT.
I have this question for anyone with knowledge about the radio functions.

I have a helmet wired with speakers and a mic.
It seems odd that if I pull the music into my helmet, it doesnt cut off from the dash and rear speakers. Then, if I turn the volume control under the panel, it also turns up the sensitivity of the mike, causing it to catch all the wind and highway noise and sends it right to the speakers. I dont want the mic active since I ride alone.

Now this is confusing since, on the Goldwing you had a button to cut out the bike speakers and a control knob to shut down the mic system. Pure Jazz, clear and isolated.

How do I ( if I can ) shut down the bike speakers and cut out an active mic ?
