USA Trip 2012 - Things getting complicated

Why does so many things in life have to be so complicated?

As the most of you know, I bought my LT in Oregon for our next years trip. Insurance issue is solved - no problem to get the bike insured.

Now the complicated issue. What kind of tag can I use legally on the bike????? In Oregon the Tag belongs to the owner and not to the bike. Big difference compare to German laws. Since I am not an US citizien, I can`t get the bike registered in the States.

Looks like 9/11 changed a lot. I did many trips in the USA before 9/11. I just bought a bike, got it insured, putted a German tag on the bike and took it with me to Germany. I am not sure if that kind of action is leagal any longer..

Do you guys have any idea how can I ride legally with my new bike during the trip??????

best regards from Bavaria

Here in Washington it is not a problem to get new plates and registration for your bike. You would need the title to the bike, bill of sale, your passport and pay the fees. So bring the bike to Washington.

Ask the Seller if You can "Temporarily" use his plates for the trip then mail them back to him before you ship the bike home.
