Insurance for foreigners

Hi friends,

for my next years trip, I am still looking for an insurance.

In the past I insured the bikes at Progressive Insurance. They don`t do that any longer. This is what they told me.
I did use my German plate on the US bike and insured it in the States.

In the same way I would like to do it this time. German plate on the US bike and insured through an US insurance company.

I received a quote from "Motorcycle Express" which seems to be very high. 310,- USD for 4 weeks.

Can you recommend me any other insurance company which will cover my bike for my next years trip????

Thanks for your assistance in this case

best regards from Bavaria

Re: Insurance for foreigners

What types of insurance are you looking for? I agree it seems steep. Do you need coverage of your bike itself - or just the liability and property damage that you might do to other people? do you need medical coverage too? what is your driving violation history? age? etc

I'm not in the insurance business but I am following your trip plans with interest.

Re: Insurance for foreigners

Thanks for jumping in Niel.

I just need the basic liability and property. Everything else is a part of my German insurance which will cover eventuallities in the US as well.

54 in age
no violetion in my history
Have my driver license since 36 yrs

Re: Insurance for foreigners

Is this a US registered bike? If so, what state? I assume it is in your name with a German address?

Re: Insurance for foreigners

I think you should be able to get insurance if you have a US address, I sold 2 bikes to some of my friends in Germany and they used my business address, they did get a policy from progressive but I believe it was for a full year (they were here for 6 months. They later got some of their money back when they returned to Germany.

they actually ended up totalling 2 new Harleys ---this may be why progressive quit insuring foreign customers........ha ha check with Geico and progressive, see how much a full 1 year policy is with a US address.......Liability only should not run more than 200.00 per year...... call me 918-446-2245 or e mail me at [email protected] I will try to help you.

Re: Insurance for foreigners

I suggest also checking in with:

dairylandcycle.com

Describe your situation. I have had my 3 bikes insured with them for years.
