How does a GS compare to a Harley Ultra?

I have an 05 Harley Ultra that I have not put 112,000 miles on and I was thinking about buying a used GS for a second bike when I am riding alone without my girlfriend. I haven't really had any major problems out of my harley. It is totaly stock and the heads have never been off if it. I am wondering about how the ride of a GS would feel compared to a large touring bike? Thanks!

Completely different ride. Find a friendly dealer and do as long a test as you're allowed.

Re: How does a GS compare to a Harley Ultra?

I have not ridden an Ultra, but have owned two LT's so I am intimitely familiar with luxury touring bikes and I have owned a GS. I found the GS to tour very nicely and many people do. I have put 1000 mile days on the GS. But for long day's in the saddle the LT is a more comfortable ride, especially two-up. If you want the flexibity of riding fire roads and such, or the GS just gives you a woody, the GS should perform very nicely for you. If long distance comfort is most important and you do not plan to venture off road, my choice would be for an LT. Either choice will out perform the Ultra and I would think be more fun to ride.
