Med Transport Insurance or Ken Part 2
In Gayles latest post on Ken's condition she relates the reason they 'chose' to drive Ken home from Reno. Seems the insurance company has a huge loophole. By stalling with the claim Ken wasn't stable enough for air transport they waiting long enough Ken could be released. With no reason to transfer Ken to a local hospital the transport insurance Ken payed big bucks for is now worthless leaving them with no choice but to drive home. I remember well my ride home from the hospital, every bump in the road was pure agony and I only had to go 2 miles. I cannot imagine having to endure 9.5 hours in a car while in that much pain. It would seem unless you get hurt in the boonies where lack of medical care makes transport mandatory or injuries bad enough to involve long term hospitalization that buying medical transport insurance may not be the great idea it would seem. Granted, in either of those two circumstances I sure would want the insurance but clearly there are questions to ask when buying it.
So much for the background info; the question I have is what experience have you had with Medical Transport Insurance, with which company, and do you feel it's a worthwhile investment? Comments on the greedy insurance SOB's or well wishes for Ken also welcome.
