Love Florida

I just got back from a trip from NC to TN, Al, Miss, FL, SC and back to NC. Approx. 2500 miles two up on a 99 LT. Weather was great. Spent one night in Franklin TN. Then rode the Natchez Trace Parkway to Jackson Miss. Next day to Ft Walton Beach Fl. Spent two days there. Then to Salt Springs in north central FL. We rented a cabin on a lake for $97 a day. Two days there and then two days in St. Augustine. North central Fl is great. We saw bears, deer, snakes, alligators, sand hill cranes, all kinds of fish. I would recommend this trip to anyone.

Glad you enjoyed your time in Florida. I agree it's a great place to visit but living here year around you learn that SUMMER is really looooong! It's going to break 90 again today and it's almost Oct! OH yea, did I mention LOVE BUG season? May and Sept every year and it seams that we're having a bumper crop this year! The only salvation is that I haven't had to shovel snow for over 25 years.

Lynn,

Not to high jack this thread but I drove from Detroit to Cincinnati this afternoon (Sept 21) and it was 93 to 96 degrees all the way - looks like you are having a cool wave in Florida!!

Re: Love Florida

I've gotta "chime in" here cause I love Florida,
sure I bitch about the heat,
especially late in the summer when it's been over 90 everyday
for the last three or was that four months.

Well it does "cool of" to the low eighties at night
and there's always a breeze here on the coast.

I've lived in Michigan, Colorado, Texas and California and although each place has it's own "attraction"
they also have their own "issues"

Whenever I travel in the summer
I'm always "reminded" that contrary to popular belief,
it's a lot cooler in Florida than all of the other surrounding Southern states
and for a brief period that also includes the Northern ones,
alas when you live in places like Michigan
those times are much too "brief".

If I should ever make another "major" move,
I think I'd like to try Loren's neighborhood or possibly Oregon.

Until then I'll just stay here and sweat.

39 degrees this morning (I live about 40 miles southeast of Seattle in the foothills of the Cascades). Gonna be a high of 68 today with sunshine. Think I'll go for a ride!

Re: Love Florida

Add another to the "Loves FL" list.
When I think it's TOO hot, I just remember all the snow and minus zero days I saw in Rochester NY and it doesn't seem so bad anymore.
