Not saying goodbye, just see ya around ........

Well I just wont say goodbye as I enjoy reading the forum too much.

Also need to watch how the GTL does when it arrives.

Mostly because I like a lot of the Forum Members so much and I have not even met them!

The ones I have had the privilege to meet are first class to say the least.

The information on this forum is priceless and the members committed (some should be) to the LT is more then any dealer, or manual could ever be.

So the criteria was I had to use my Insurance money only, and that was to include all farkels.

So I got this:

And Another:

She is a 2010 FJR1300 in Liquid Silver. I wanted to try something a bit lighter then the LT, and she is, but still 643 pounds wet. Course it has a 6.6 gallon tank.

She got 2 miles on her and none by me, I cant ride yet

Man I spent like a drunken sailor on her for farkels. And I got everything I read about that I thought I even needed including a Givi E52 Trunk!

Got to say no matter what ST bike you ride you pay through the nose for suspension, period! Traxxion Dynamics who the Wingers get hooked up from grabbed my butt for just about a grand for two fork springs and a rear Penske shock. If I would have done the forks out in AK 20s cartridges it would have been about 1100.00 for them alone! But the guy was great and I asked him best bang for the buck he said the front is way under sprung, get two springs.

I sit on it and make vroom vroom noises, and when caught I tell them it is the meds

I still will be checking in and hanging out, and will always render aid if I get called out of the Anonymous Book or e-mailed.

I will own another BMW if these new generation bikes pan out. I just needed a lighter bike, needed to try a different brand for a bit, and more importantly no payment for a bike to my liking.

Thanks to all of you over the years, you been great to me and that is really saying something

Can I still wave to BMW Riders

Re: Not saying goodbye, just see ya around ........

Nothing wrong with making vroom vroom noises I often announce my arrival into a room with a Ta Daa!, sort of my own little fanfare.

Keep making them while you recover, and safe riding when you do get out on the bike for the first time.

Re: Not saying goodbye, just see ya around ........

Wooohooooo, Lee --- man, you don't waste time, do ya??

That is one sweet ride, Lee. I gotta admit that I'm somewhat in lust for one of those, and got all excited when I saw an Australian pic of the supposed '11 model - turned out to be photoshopped instead of for-real, tho. I gotta wait on Mr. Lottery dude to pick them numbers like he's 'posed to --- and then!!!! And then!!!!

Every one of the folks around here who have/had FJRs just love 'em. Monte (monmon2), when he had the AE one that he sold, just enjoyed his so much, you could tell. And Russ (McRuss) just rolled into the Koffeee Klatch yestiday morning on his Feejer and you could tell he wuz glad he fired it up for the ride in - even tho he's had it in the stable for several years, along with some other scoots, it'd been several weeks since he threw a leg. Came in grinnin' wide!! And I know Mike Watts (semi-paralyzed at the moment after a car wreck) loved the dickens outta his. Said as soon as he's able to ride again, he's after a new one!!

So, thumbs up on the selection, Lee. I hear the Feejer forums are on par with the group here, so that'll be good.

Hope you get to ride it down the smooth and twisty road soon, Lee. Have a safe ride when you do, and keep on grinnin', even after the bugs-n-da-teeth!!! Stiff toothbrush'll take care of 'em!!

Great-looking bike, Lee. Best of luck with it!

Just out of curiosity, did you consider the Moto Guzzi Norge when you were deciding on your purchase choice? The Norge intrigues me.

Congrats to ya Lee and all the best for a quick recovery to riding shape. That's one beautiful bike.

You're gonna love that FJR. One of my riding buddies has one with 65K on her and it is one sweet ride. Gets about the same mileage as the LT too.

Beautiful bike Lee, BUT, $1,100 for suspension upgrades?

Do they come with cruise control or you added aftermarket?

Enjoy and be safe!

Re: Not saying goodbye, just see ya around ........

Thanks all I hope to make some different area fall rides since I still am off work.

Yes I thought it was a pretty sexy bike.

I gave up electric center stand and reverse. Cruise can be added by an aftermarket kit. I am sure I will miss the electric center stand but it was a worry point for me. Reverse I used but parked that way to use it, I did paddle the LT a lot though.

Suspension yes I could have gone 2100.00 in for the full boat, but only went 1000.00 in. The HyperPros on my LT were 2300.00 so I an not surprised at suspension upgrades on ST bikes.

The only bikes I really considered were the Connie and the FJR. I did not like the way I sat the Connie compared to the FJR. The only reason the FJR won, well I scored it higher on looks too! The 6.6 gallon gas tank helped also.

I will farkel the hell out of it and ride the snot out of it and let you guys know how I like it. The LT is a tough act to follow but I think the FJR will be fine for a different change of pace and still run some miles up.

Now lets see how that 1600 shows it stuff.........................

Re: Not saying goodbye, just see ya around ........

So have not checked in in a while so thought I would show you what I have been doing.

Is a 0 Mile bike supposed to look like this?

This was to do the fork springs. Here is stock on the bottom and the new ones I put in. It has a black spring buffer in it and are sprung for my weight not a 165 lb rider.

I then did the rear shock and here is the two of them. Interesting to me is the "Shock Sock" on the new Penske. Traxxion said hey not trying to sell you anything but this cool product will help your shock stay clean thus preserving it's life. I remember friends who had dirt bikes that did this many years ago. So I went for it.

So of course I needed Moto Lights again. Got them on but not hot or aimed. Also note the PIAA Horns I scored off Amazon as they are loud and reasonable in price. 60 for the set and would work on the LT also.

Here is the wiring tunnel I have to work with.

And what I have to deal with working backwards to the FuzeBlock.

And then I need to do a bit of termination yet. The FuzeBlock is cool for two reasons, it has a relay built into it, and every fuse terminal has 3 legs, you put the fuse in the legs on one side it is switched power, put the fuse in the other two legs and it is constant power. Nice gizmo.

So I am getting closer to getting the cockpit set up but will not know until I ride it.

So in all that I drilled out the ignition bolts and put on a new triple tree that gave me about 1 3/4" rise and 1 1/2" back to me. That was fun. Torqued the steering head bearings to factory specs to know it was done right. Since I was in the forks and triple tree anyway.

Installed a Power Commander V which is pretty cool and has matured nicely since I used one years ago. The even have a auto tune module for them now.

The GPS Mount and GPS 660 were the only parts that survived the LT and were brought back from her carcass. They needed to be on this bike.

So anyway least you guys think I just been sitting around doing good drugs and getting fat I thought I would post up.

At least I post pics...................

Yes and for me not being able to ride SUCKS BIG TIME, but it is a blessing too.

I have no need to rush or push on getting the stuff done so it is getting well thought out and if I get frustrated I just push the Fuc$ It Button.

Still have a lot to do wiring wise, Then have a Givi Trunk/Bracket I need to mount up and wire a LED AdMore light kit into. Highway pegs, and on and on..........

In a Russel Group buy so that is taken care of, last thing I will need to do is ride it and decide what windshield I need/want.

So yes it is nice to have it the way I want it. But the ability to ride, and a second bike would give one that option also

I want to live like that other 1/2 does!

Thanks John slow but sure and I am getting it done.

Glad I could help out in a small way for CCR. I lived vicariously reading all the posts and seeing the pics. Looks like you guys had a ball!

Unfortunately it looks like by the time I can ride I will need to head South to get any miles in this year.

I feel like that damn groundhog we got here in PA, 6 more weeks of wearing the brace.

Good news on the EBC rotor and no cow bell any longer.

As always John thank you for your help over the years and it was very nice to meet you and Mrs. Z.

Maybe I will make CCR 11 on the Feej

Re: Not saying goodbye, just see ya around ........

Just wanted to check in and say hello to all. Been awhile. Have been lurking on the GT/GTL forum. Guys are getting wound up for sure.

So I finally got to ride my FJR Friday. It was my first ride since July 17th when I totaled the LT.

I was kept in the C-collar until November and they did this to my C1 and C2 or Atlas and Axis vertebrae.

So I got this out on Friday for 112 miles.

What a blast riding again was. While I miss my LT this one had me grinning big time. Break in cant go over 4500 and red line is 9000. At 4500 RPM I am just shy of 90 MPH indicated in 5th gear. The FJR is all that and a bag of chips for sure. Really different than the LT. Not better, just way different. Fast, OMG!

Hope you are all well and you guys "standing in line" get you bikes soon. I really am anxious to hear you reviews.

Stay safe.

Regards,
Lee

Sweet ride!! Beautiful color too! The FRJ has always been a favorite of mine. Probably time for Yamaha to come out with an new updated version but the styling hit the mark from the get go!

Can't wait to see what they do with it in its next generation which I suspect will be pretty soon. Any news on a new version in the works?

Great job an the FJR, btw. That is clleeeeaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnn!
It still hurts every day. I been strength training and that seems to help with pain.

Yes it is a clean bike and the way I wanted it. It is very fast, and it can haul some stuff also. Not near as "refined" as the LT but a different type of bike too.

Yes the x-ray is really fuggly, but what I got to work with.

Thanks for asking and comments.

Can't wait to see what they do with it in its next generation which I suspect will be pretty soon. Any news on a new version in the works?
No new FJR on the horizon that we have heard. Their new ADV bike is the big news. Lots of guys are jumping on them. The FJR is another 10 year old platform as the LT is. Speculation is economy has made them to skip a model year on the FJR. But man what a bike she is.
