Well I just bought a 99 Valk. I've been trying to decide what to do.

We sat on a goldwing and I think i can handle the COG on that machine, unlike the LT, having this damaged upper right quadrant/shoulder (from wrecking my LT with 135k miles on it). She likes the LT best but said he gw seat was good.

I had been looking at the Valks, sat on a Kaw 1600 Vulcan nomad, nice bike but I guess I'll never be a twin kind of guy (wife didn't like it either). what a great looking bike though!

So, back to considering the Valk..... bought this 99 I've been eyeballing for awhile, black with about 4800 miles on it. I'll let you know if I made a mistake in about 6 months after I put about 20k miles on it.

I needed a long distance bike in addition to my K12S so I guess this is it! Won't have it for a couple weeks yet though, work has me tied up at the moment.

I also needed something the wife would be ok with for day rides at least. If she's feeling good about riding (she crashed with me on the LT), we may buy a new wing next year. I just can't handle a high COG, that is major factor. I'm sure we'll wait long enough to see how the new touring bike models are from BMW, the wife prefers the beemer over everything else (she's mostly German )

Re: Valkyrie

If I was in the same situation, I'd ride the Valk till the new BMAs get on the scene. However, I am always cautious about 1st year of a new model/design (till the bugs get worked out).

Re: Valkyrie

Well this thing is interesting. Sure can see the BMW razor edge advantage when you venture out

But COG is like an upside down LT, it is very low, so far, I haven't dropped it to the right. its pretty low to the ground so its not going too far anyways I'm kinda sceered to turn! ahem...sorry...never was a cruiser guy but I'm trying...

Engine is interesting, never owned a 6cyl bike. complete diff seating than I'm used to, handle bars are a little weird up there but I'm getting used to it.

otherwise, there sure isn't much to the bike (its a standard model) but..engine! that thing is quite huge. No problem staying warm in the winter.

It goes on a 430 miler to El Paso tomorrow so I'll report more later. not a bad bike really, just...different and definitely not what I would expect to buy, I must be getting old.

Thumbs up Re: Valkyrie

Congrats! I think the Valkyrie was/is a heck of a bike. I don't understand why they stopped selling them. I thought sales were always really good ... maybe I'm wrong. Keep the updates coming.
