Re: Sunglasses?

I got to the point I needed help with sunglasses, and found these:
http://www.optx2020.com/

If you need single distance correction for reading etc., these work extremely well, as long as your reading power need is the same for both eyes.

These inserts are put on the back of whatever sunglasses you want to use by cleaning the lenses well, and with them wet put the inserts on, position them to suit, then let them dry. Once installed they are basically there to stay, but can be removed easily to move them to new glasses. Some drug stores carry them. Otherwise they can be ordered online, and I just found reading glasses in a drugstore the worked good and used that to get the correct power.

The beauty of them is that you can wear whatever sunglasses you like. I was always using Serengeti. I finally needed upper correction though, so now only have the inserts in sunglasses I use for driving or yard work.

Re: Sunglasses?

I have been using Gargoyle "Classics" (without inserts) for the last 8 years and really like them. I wear a full-face helmet, so the total wrap-around design of the Gargoyles offer full eye protection with the visor up. Also, there is no peripheral distortion. They are great glasses for motorcycling!

Re: Sunglasses?

I use the Nolan N-103 helmet with the internal sunglass visor that drops down - makes it much cooler on summer days to run with the visor up. However, with the visor down and the vents open, I have to admit this the noisiest darn helmet in captivity. Made a good case for ear protection.

Thumbs up Re: Sunglasses?

I've used Gargoyle "Classics" for about 15 years, at work wearing a half helmet and then with a 3/4 on my LT. I've used them while wearing contacts and love them. I'm thinking about doing the inserts, but haven't gotten around to it.

Dave

How do you ride with polarized sunnies? I find these impossble to wear as the effect on road surfaces is to make them look a smooth blue, like the road is covered in oil. I always ride with the bike shield down i.e.looking over the shield and the helmet sheild down.

The effect is so disconcerting its positively dangerous.

Re: Sunglasses?

I like these. I can see instrumentds and GPS with them and they come in different strengths. Clear or sun. For $15 you can't go wrong.

I've noticed the same thing in years past. "Tar snakes" shimmer and look like water, depending on light a rainbow effect on a motorcycle windshield and washed out LCD displays.
