Victory Vision, dumb question or rider

Last night going into town I saw a bike sitting beside the road so I stopped and asked if he was having problems. Rider said he ran out of gas. Luck be with him since I had my gas can for the lawn mowers with at most a half gallon in it. Dumped in the gas and he made it the 3 miles to the station.

Now for the dumb question(s). Is the Victory fuel injected or carb. In either case doesn't it have either a reserve position on the fuel valve or somewaring that you are low on fuel?

He complained that the bike was hard on gas. Just looking at the tank it looked like it would possibly hold 2 -3 gallons max.

It's fuel injected with a 6 gallon tank - anyone's guess as to why he ran dry!

Re: Victory Vision, dumb question or rider

I asked myself that same question at the side of the interstate in Shreveport last year on my LT. Why did I let this happen?

Wow, either my eyes are getting real bad or the gas tank is under the seat with faux one up on the top rail above the engine.

Maybe he removed the blinking light showing "low fuel" because it annoyed him?

The Victory Vision's gas tank is actually in the fairing.

Don't some FI engines shut off before the tank is empty and the injectors run dry?

Re: Victory Vision, dumb question or rider

Most FI engines have the low fuel warning light come on early because the fuel pump is in the tank and actually uses the fuel for cooling the pump.

Running out of gas is easy. Get distracted and you're there! Of course, on a M/C, distracted will get you DRT, also.

No, the computer fixed the low cooling water. It's operator, misinterpreting the reading, over-road it! Then.....
