Hand Me Some Wire Please

Now here's how you keep the 'ol gal on the road -- old coat hanger, some plastic tubing, empty olive jar and problem solved!

Re: Hand Me Some Wire Please

Why didn't you just try the universal easy repair/fix technique?

If it had been my bike, I definately would have tried the duct tape, however, that would have violated the owner's apparent rule of not making a special purpose purchase rather than recycling what was available on the trash heap. I saw this in the parking lot at Arlen Ness (of all places). I was hoping someone would recognize the purpose of this "invention" and let us all know what the jar was for. Obvioulsy collecting gasoline from some place for some reason.

Re: Hand Me Some Wire Please

That reminds me of the first time I road to Alaska on a motorcycle . I was on a '63 R60 with a R60/6 motor/gear box . I was 1,000 mile in to it , when the pin on the back of the gear box that the clutch arm pivots on came 1/2 way out . That caused the back of the pivot on the one side to brake off . I got a drill from some one at the campground that I was at ,& drilled a whole thru the pivot mount . Then I tied it all back together with a coat hanger . I thought that would get me to a dealer , then I could get it fix right ...

Then after around 2 miles I thought , that is good enough . I would put more & more wire on it most ever night , but it got me to Alaska & back .
