***Figure 8 on a Goldwing - Must See***

As we all know, riding a Goldwing or a K1200Lt, requires a certain skill set. That being said, this is a "must see" video link via youtube. If the link doesn't work, cut and paste it into your browser. If that doesn't work, run a search on youtube "Chester with Gold Wing Figure 8's".

All I can tell you is that this video wants to make you want to go out and practice on your bike.

Re: ***Figure 8 on a Goldwing - Must See***

After reading all these posts, looks like no one here has taken an experienced rider course. I practice these for curb to to curb turns. Sure he's doing it at a higher speed, but that makes it easier and he's using a lot more room. Let's see him do it that fast in a defined box like the requirement for ERC.

OBTW, I can grind my LT in really tight turns at that speed too!!!

It's actually easier the faster you go..... which is why he doesn't have to move his body during the fast ones...... Not bad though... just nothing special though for the special ed GL rider he no doubt stands out.....

I wonder how long GL clutches last doing that?

Like Harley the Wing has a wet clutch operating in the engine oil. Much easier on the clutch when "feathering" in the "friction" zone.

Yeah that was my point...... I guess I should have worded it "I wonder how long my clutch would last doing that...."

I don't think you can do a donut any tighter than he was while his buddy was in the middle!
Way tighter than a curb to curb turn.

+1
If anyone can do it tighter than that, video and post for well deserved OOOOH's and AAHHHH's. I for one cannot come close to that tight of a turn on my K1200 and haven't ridden a wing enough to know how tight I could get on one. I would like to see someone on a K1200LT doing it though.

He had those "curb feelers" on there to let him know when he is about to drag hard stuff. Makes me want to go out and practice.

Re: ***Figure 8 on a Goldwing - Must See***

That can be done on an LT, too, with practice, of course! There's a guy on here that used to teach the ERC on an LT - he was really good on his.

Ok, off to practice - where to find a 'clean' lot this time of year?

Not worthy! Maybe the underside of his bike is lined with Kevlar?

Makes me think how stupid it is to scratch up your 22000 bike for nothing. Why in the real world would you need to ride like that?

You have a point there. After watching it again with the volume up a bit, there sure did seem to be a lot of scraping going on.

Look closely and you will see what is making all that noise - curb feelers! They look like silver balls on a stick and you can see it bouncing up and down when he circles the guy in the yellow shirt.

Ok on that last manuver he is really scraping some hard stuff.
