Video Camera Mount Finally!!!!

After spending some serious bucks over the last two years and testing multi mounts for my video camera I have finally found one that works perfect for all bikes. As with all good things, you run into problems like finding out who made the mount. I tested this mount yesterday during the daylight hours and the night hours in 33 degree weather. The search is on for the company that makes them.

Meanwhile here is my test video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhtWPJdAzTU

Re: Video Camera Mount Finally!!!!

VERY nice quality video. Very stable and of high quality. One thing I noticed (and never thought about before I saw this video) was how much the front suspension worked. The ride is so smooth you just don't think about all the bumps that get smoothed out!

Great setup.

Re: Video Camera Mount Finally!!!!

Very good video, stable and excellent quality. I would like to see a higher camera position since it would allow the viewer to see further ahead.
What make mount is it????

Re: Video Camera Mount Finally!!!!

Nice and good quality but personally I have never been a fan of films shot from so low down.

I think the trip prespective is a lot better if taken from higher up where you see both sides of the road or horizon.

As I said, just my opinion.

Re: Video Camera Mount Finally!!!!

Couple things of interest. I tried to hit as many rough spots in the road as possible, just to see how stable the unit was and make sure it wasn't going to fall off. At night I noticed that the camera had a hard time auto focusing. This could have been due to the temp. During the day, the picture stayed pretty much in focus. The only other factor could have been speed. I was slightly above the speed limit (85 - 91) most of the time. I'm thinking that maybe the camera couldn't adjust fast enough. Just a small kink to work out.

I have enclosed some stills of different mounting locations that I have tried. The mount seems to be very stable at each location.

Camera Type JVC Everio HDD

The mount is a Makaw's VideoPerch. Someone in my office just found it on the web. Further Info can be found at: www.videoperch.com

Excellent point, I mounted it on the bumper at the last mintue and just wanted to test it. What's nice about the mount as shown in the stills I posted is that you can mount it anywhere.

Thumbs up Re: Video Camera Mount Finally!!!!

This looks like a great camera ( or camcorder) mount for the dash!!!

I was going to get a shelf, but this mount you don't have to drill anything!!

Might look at this mount ( also, 1/2 the price of a shelf!!).

Thanks for the info.

Re: Video Camera Mount Finally!!!!

The thing I noticed the most was no camera shake in comparison to the front wheel reactions.

Excuse my ignorance but is that the mount, or stabilization of some type in the camera/lens?

TIA

Because I mounted the mount onto the bumper that elimates some of the shake, and because the platform of the mount is strudy that also stops some of the shake also the camera is set for shaky hands or bike in this case.

The camera is a HD camera, however I have it set on FINE and not HD. I also have it recording to the SD card and not the hard drive.

Thank you for the reply. Man it got out of hand for me, quickly

I like this Sony HF200 camera http://www.marinevisions.com/Canon-V...Camcorder.html I can get it for 549.00 anywhere.

Then I go, hey I can't hang a 550.00 camera out in the wind and such, what options are there?

Wow light up the inside of my face. This is what I like.http://www.marinevisions.com/Canon-W...o-Housing.html 389.00 best price. I do not scuba, but I have had the bike very wet for periods of time that were unexpected or more likely, ill planed for.

A pretty nice video made with these two. Been a while since I heard the genre of music so it was fine for the video. http://joeljohnson.com/2009/review-c...ing-with-video

This is the same in HD http://vimeo.com/6152997?hd=1

So add a Extra Battery and a 32 Gig card an I am in another 200.00

Man that 69.00 mount got a little salty, pretty quickly

Looks like a great mount. I've been looking for a good one for a while that doesn't permanently mount and can give different views. Thanks for sharing the info. Loved the video!

Re: Video Camera Mount Finally!!!!

Glad you found the VideoPerch !

We're a small ma & pa establishment right now and are trying to get the word out about the VideoPerch and love that you found yet another use for it.

We would greatly appreciate it if someone who has used it and has experience with it sent a review to http://www.kk.org/cooltools/

They review obscure and interesting tools and the VideoPerch seems like it would be a nice gem of an article for them.

Thanks for the great post! I would love to see more videos produced using the VideoPerch! If you create them, please email them my way.

Re: Video Camera Mount Finally!!!!

I am very much interested in buying a Videoperch, also to mount a videocamera to my LT.

One question and one comment:
Q: Is there a retailer in Europe? All I can find are US retailers, and one on eBay, who charges me 44 USD only for shipping a 60 USD product!

Comment: If you photoshop your images for your website, you should do it right. Look closely at the LCD display of the camera in the picture below. It contains *itself*...

I mean this one: http://www.videoperch.com/images/family.jpg
