It's official - LT is for sale

Maybe it's just time for a change, whatever..... but the LT officially went up for sale this weekend.

I'm arranging two test rides with Telle for a replacement. First up is the 2010 Victory Cross Country. Back to my V-Twin roots, so to speak. The full body tattoos just look out of place on a BMW. :-) Second will be on a Spyder RT. Something about those just intrigues the heck out of me. I'm very comfortable with the technology (ABS, stability control, traction control, electronic throttle control, etc) since I deal with that stuff on a daily basis. There's just something about the design that stirs the old hot-rodder in me.

Whoever buys the LT will be given the link to this website. You guys (and gals) have been a very helpful group, and the "non technical" threads are just as interesting.

I have a set of Kathy's Journey Designs bag liners (to fit RH bag with CD player) and a top bag to fit the stock BMW rack. Also a brand-new Clymers manual for 98-05 K bikes. If interested, please PM me.

I have a tattoo'd friend from my Harley days that rode a BMW for a time
we would always kid him that he looked like he "stole" the BMW

Tat,

Please let us know how you like the Victory Cross Country. That model is on my short list, as well. It looks intriguing to me. Another bike that has piqued my interest is the Star Stratoliner Deluxe which is a new touring offering from Star for 2010. It looks really nice and the price doesn't seem outlandish for what you get.

The Cross Country is not out yet at the dealers, as it's a brand new 2010 model. However, it has the same drivetrain (106 cu.in. V-twin, 6 spd trans) as the Vision. From what I can see on the brochures, the front fairing is almost identical. Right now, it will be offered with locking hard side bags, the same as are offered as an accessory on other models. My buddy has a Kingpin with them, and they are huge, but the only problem is the lock. It's mounted vertically in the lid, in a depression, so if it rains, water will leak in. The dealer has told me that Victory is working on a hard trunk, sort of like the Harley trunk, that will be a quick on/off.
I did like the Vision when I took it out. Engine is very smooth, TONS of torque. Don't expect to lean it like the BMW, but the handling was more than adequate for cruising and very predictable. I had no problem dragging the floorboards.

Haven't seen the Star yet, but there is another dealer close by. May have to take a look at one of them as well. I have to sell my current bike first.

Tat
