Radio problem

Greetings! I recently had my 1200LT in for it's 24,000 mile service. When I got the bike back, the radio was not operating properly. When I hit the "seek" button, the radio would rapidly advance through the various stations on a "continuous" basis like it was not getting any signal from the antenna. However the "seek" button worked perfectly for changing the tracks on the CD. I was thinking that maybe the technician somehow pulled out the antenna input into the radio. Any ideas? Thanks.

Can you tune in a station manually? static? if so the easy check is at the antenna it's self, four screws on the bottom to take out the "pig tail" and if you can see a small spring inside, your good on that end. its possible when the tech removed the stingray, he did not seat the antenna fully or missed it all together.

Re: Radio problem

Thanks for the reply. Today, for whatever the reason, the radio started working properly. Before this happened, I called the dealer and he mention something about a "spring" like you mentioned. Since I really didn't do any trouble shooting to get it back to life, I have to think it will happen again. The dealer mentioned something about problems with the 2005 model which mine is. Your thoughts? Thanks.

Re: Radio problem

The FM radios are a sour spot for most on the LT, reception is spotty at best. I am not aware of anything specific to any certain year. maybe there is and someone will chime in. The strange part is the dealer mentioning the spring. IIRC, there is nothing under the top case or at the rear of the bike that would involve removing the antenna for a regular service/maintenance? Only thing I can think of, is that they removed the mast while it was in the shop to make it easier to get around it. If that were the case, when they went to re-assemble the mast, the spring may not have seated correctly. Just be happy that its good to go, I think I'd still take it back (if in the area) just to have them check their work...

Stranger still, looking at the Microfiche I do not see a spring in the base of the antenna
