BULLHEAD CITY - A motor vehicle accident occurred in the area of Highway 95 and Airport Drive at approximately 6 p.m. Saturday resulting in an arrest and emergency medical transport.
According to police reports, Jesus Becerra, 38, of Fontana, Calif., was driving a Honda Odyssey south on Highway 95 in the outer lane while Hermon Walker, 74, of Sturgis, S.D., was riding a motorcycle in the inner lane. Becerra made an unsafe lane change, according to Bullhead City police, and struck Walker's BMW motorcycle causing an accident.
Walker was thrown from the bike and rolled to a stop in the intersection. Bullhead City Fire Department responded to the call and transported Walker to Western Arizona Medical Center with incapacitating injuries. Walker was later flown to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas due to the severity of his injuries. Walker was wearing a helmet.
Becerra failed a field sobriety test and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. A breath test was administered and Becerra's blood alcohol level was revealed to be 0.119 percent. The legal limit is .08 percent.
Becerra was charged with aggravated assault, a felony, and three counts of aggravated DUI, also a felony, because his three children - all under the age of 14 - also were in the vehicle.
Becerra was taken to Mohave County Sheriff's Office Jail in Kingman to await trail.
Walker's condition was unknown as of press time.
