Really want to screw them up

About a month back I was out on my LT. stopped at a usual sat gathering of motorcyclist.(I use that term loosely).

I didnt really ;think about the shirt I had on under my Jacket. So i went around back to the outside area.

This guy approaches me and says somehting about my shirt. why dont you get a harley. so i said there nothing wrong with my bike now why do i need one. He stated"Its american and better than that Jap Crap.

Now my wheels are spinning. I said I am on a BMW. he pauses then say why do you have a shirt that says Yamaha Road Star on it. So I paused for a moment to come up with a good quip and realized I had my Raod Star shirt on. I could only come up with "because I Can".

so whenever I can i will wear another brand shirt when Im out on the bike. sometimes it goes over good, sometimes entertaining, and sometimes other.

Re: Really want to screw them up

Some people take their loyalties too seriously. I had a guy pull up next to me shouting I had on the wrong jacket. I was a little confused then realized I was on my LT but wearing my Triumph jacket. Hadn't occurred to me this was sacrilege, in my mind it was one of my better jackets.

Re: Really want to screw them up

Hmmm...I am still wearing my 8-10 year old HD shirts because they last so darned long. Best quality t-shirts out there with the exception of those from the Boot Hill Saloon in Daytona. Look great and the pockets are perfect.

Never got any funny comments even when wearing my HD leather jacket.

But, this time around, I will be going with a BMW jacket (when I win the lottery). Mostly because of the armor and textile material.

Just ride it!

When I ride, I wear whatever shirt was in one of the various lost and founds I frequent each week.

I still ride with my Ducati jacket. I've been asked why and I tell them it's still not worn out yet.

I wear a Ballistic jacket for good reason; my job in Quality gives folks plenty of target practice.

Re: Really want to screw them up

When someone asks if I have a HARLEY when I have a Harley shirt on, ( yes they last a long time!) I say "No! I just don't want people to know I own a real Motorcycle." That stops 'em for a while.

Yeah.. and if someone gets mad at you just say.. "see that red one over there... that's it"... as you point to a 1% bike..

Re: Really want to screw them up

I bought a very nice, unique prototype of an "Eddie Lawson Replica" leather jacket from Cagiva few years ago, when I was working for them and I was riding a Cagiva as my daily commuter and fun bike.

I've never ever thought of replacing it with a BMW jacket... the Lawson replica is such a good one that I'll wear it until it rips apart. As I always do with my jackets, by the way

Re: Really want to screw them up

I got a kick outa the guys at the Ducati dealership as I pulled up on the LT to buy Boots. Took off the Joe Rocket mesh jacket and was wearing a Yamaha/Fiat crew shirt.
